Picture Variations
#1
Posted 18 September 2007 - 02:12 PM
We all know how much of a bother it can be to be satisfied with certain pictures whenever we tweak them, be they just pictures, or avatars, photos or whatever, it always happens eventually.
So anyways, if you've got picture that you want to match with their differences (even your avvys) with other people's opinions being made about them, feel free to post them.
Remember tho, only constructive criticism if there is any criticism at all. Be respectful of each other's workings, even if it wasn't originally your own work.
It would also be good if you could attach the original pic before the changed one, so we can all see the difference.
Ok, thats all I can say.
Friendly comments welcome, unconstructive criticism and the like is not

P.S. And when you get that done, could you teach it to me too?!?
I like the 6th and the 7th the most as they, for me, are suited the best in the forest scene.

Anyways the original work isn't mine, save prehaps the change in eye color, it was originally white but I ended up losing the original by accident so i settled for the next closest thing. I recall posting a link to it back in the rate the avatar thread in the Rec Room, check back a bit and you should find it. I'll look for the pic myself and replace the white haired one when I find it.
Anyways, nothing really techinical, just a bit of changing in color variations once you have selected various components of the pic with one of the tools in Adobe Photoshop, there's a menu option that allows you to tinker with it any way you want.
After that, just let it auto contrast the selected areas before deselecting, and violla.
That was the whole procedure for me, really basic, as is my nature.
Anyways, glad you like 6 and 7, I'll try to make 'em better for ya since after all i generally keep a copy of my work somewhere, unless the issue mentioned before happens.
Thanks for the help.

Thanks B
And please remember everyone that this thread is welcoming Everyone to show off their graphical crafts, even if the original work isn't their own. (after all we are not trying to sell for commercial profit here are we? that'd just be illegal.)
Come on don't be shy
Show us what you can come up with from a piece of existing work or photo, its worth the effort trust me.
I'm already taking your advice to heart Jarno, and now yours too berelinde, so thanks again.

Meh, anyways:
Note to everyone, ADOBE PHOTOSHOP IS A PAIN!!!!
Template:
Drow Transformation:
More Blur:
Now I know she hasn't got White silvery Hair, but that was even harder to do than the skin color, and even Auto Contrast kinda messed that up.
Anyways here's the link, thanks Choo Choo to where I found her http://www.kirith.com/
Edit: And btw people I do know Drow are not nessecaryily blue, I'm still experimenting tho and Photoshop isn't much for working nicely with me, so yeah, be patient.
And remember people, your variations if you wish to share, now have a home

Make sure you don't get carried away with blurring stuff, blur is good for only a few things.
Ohh well, i figure i can post some of my non-original picture edits.... Ehhehh.... Old avatar images made for people and such randomness... O_O
Added the bottle by request.
Avvy for myself, once upon a time on a board, far far away. xP
Avvy for a friend, obviously added the elephant face.
Edited colors, added fancy grid.
Now this is actually a picture i took. Except I re-angled the sewer hatch, and added the green-tinted hands, yeah...
Übar simple color edit; wanted it more aggressive.
Now some BG portrait edits:
Hmmm...
A sig then: The guy requested a sig with precisely the text it has, and who was i not to make a mockery of him? ^^
A gothic 3 birdie beast (name escapes me, maybe scavenger as the pic name is xP), cropped up and edge-shaded for avatar use.
A 100ton Atlas battlemech scanned from mechcommander manual... Added background and such.
IIRC, i made this to illustrate a point for a debate. xP
A friend of mine, with a twist:
Oh, these two actually fit the thread quite well:
Here i just gave the pic some fancy rays of light:
Same base image, but now it's night and it's FIRE. O_O
Whoopsie, I didn't mean to hijack the thread... xP

My ridiculously ugly 2-minute-recolour of the same picture as Solar..
This is what happens when someone used to recolouring in PS tries to do it in PI..
Hope someone's eyes didn't start bleeding.
(I'll make a better one once my PS starts working! I promise!)

Ok, these are variations of the black haired version I have above. But with different eye colors.
1. Light Blue
2. Red
3. Green
4. Purple
5. Black tint
6. Dark Blue
7. Feline (Yellow)
Edit: Fixed a mistake and added:
Was planning on also changing her skin color, maybe add in a tattoo or two.
Oi! None of those thoughts please.
Anyways, please keep your variations coming people, some nice works have been produced thus far.

My reasons being I had come across some differently coloured Aerie pics before, but couldn't find them in the larger sizes or sans armor. So I did these with the Gimp in what I'm sure was the long way around ( color layer over b&wlayer, erasing the hair so only the bw version showed through and then adding color to the B&W layer blah blah - took forever)
So here goes:
Purple!
Bright Blue!
Sea Green!
And then two versions of the same color, one with the contrast way up and the other down. Poor Aerie, all those years of torture have turned her prematurely grey...
Believe it or not, I find her less whiney with different hair colours.

Heh, and no I wasn't looking lower I was looking at the hair colors, the black ones are my favorites, the one on the left probably more so.
And interesting patterns there Legion, middle one is my fav.
