Since Rastor mentioned doing it (and it is a darn good idea), I thought I would get it started.

Just seems like a great idea to me.

I know I could use some fun NWN mods.

I'm not exactly sure how true game modifications work, so I prefer playable modules. But feel free to make suggestions on both.

Probably more, if anything. A lot aren't much good, but the sheer profusion means there are excellent ones available.

For NWN1 I certainly agree about the PRC and especially the CEP. I also liked the Classic Roleplay Adaptation Project, but the current version doesn't work with the latest CEP/PRC and the groups website has gone, so it's less useful now. To a large extent if you're interested mostly in playing then the CEP/PRC combination covers nearly evereything you might want. But people have made all sorts of things - if you look around the NWVault you can find SciFi materials, samurai-style armour, new monsters, new tilesets, etc. There are some creators whose work you can expect to be high quality, but there's excellent material from other people too.

As for good adventure mods, there are so many I wouldn't try to identify particular ones. A lot depends on what people like. and I wouldn't recommend a series like Lords of Darkness to someone who indicated a dislike for hack-and-slash, among other things.

For NWN2 there isn's as much good material available yet, though there are some things which are excellent. I'm slightly reluctant to recommend particular things with the expansion imminent, as they will often need upgrading. the PRC intend releasing a version of their pack for NWN2, which should be worht waiting for. For modules, there's a few really good ones available, and I'd suggest Tragedy in Tragidor and The Subtlety of Thay as some of the best.

Can anyone suggest any brilliant roleplaying-oriented NWN single-player modules? I've been wanting to play for a while, but I haven't seen any recommendations for such.

Some that I like are:

Both Tortured Hearts are excellent modules, though the second in particular is very long

The Tales of Arterra modules are good.

The "Bastard of Kosigan" series - unfortunately only the first two are translated from French atm.

It's pretty short, but the module Black Thorn is nearly a straight murder mystery involving talking to people and gathering evidence with almost no combat in it.

The series Midwinter Festival, Midsummer Knight's Dream, Midnight Calling has got some interesting NPCs in it, and a wide range of things to do.

That's some I've played and can remember right now. Any of them might be worth a look.

Latest count: Over 25,000 for NWN1 (closer to 50,000 depending on what you want to count), most of which are at least as good a quality as the OC.
500-1000 for NWN2, again depending on what qualifies.

So, there's vastly more for NWN 1/2 than for the BG series.

That one gets mixed reviews. Honestly, I didn't particularly care for it. There's some interesting stuff in it, but it's too flawed to get a huge recommendation from me.

I liked the Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher/Demon series, plus it's at least 100 hours of play.

I'll second the recommendation for Tales of Arterra. Those two modules remain among my favorites and have more role-playing than pretty much anything I've been able to find. It took me about 50 hours on my first playthrough... there's a boatload of content there if you look for it.

The Wyvern Crown of Cormyr is a very good module and definitely worth the $10, imo.

I enjoyed Kingmaker, but there's definitely some issues with it (can be buggy, etc.)

I might (and probably will) restate a mod or two... or all... that have already been said... no way I'm reading through all the posts :P

But...

The Aielund Saga was fantastic IMO, worth checking out for sure.

Um.... The Rose of Eternity series is VERY unique and has alot of custom scripts.

Darkness Over Daggerford (I actually DID see that one mentioned here but oh well) uses alot of well done custom content and had a feel to it that reminded me of Baldur's Gate at parts...

I had alot of fun playing through the "A Hunt Through the Dark" series, they start off short and gradually become longer modules... the last one being long enough that it took me (I think) a full weekend of non-stop (just about) playing to beat.

While I still have not beaten (or started for that matter) the second module... I can safely say that the "Tale of a Mage" mods are fantastic, they truly bring out the greatness of the mage.

And lastly, I have yet to play, although I have indeed heard great things, about this trilogy here: Here

That's it... I think. I may or may not have left out some great ones (I guarantee I did) but alas... meh

For evil players I would suggest Blackguard. Trust me, it is one of the best modules around.

Another one of my favorites is A Hunt Through the Dark. It focuses on drow and it is a very good module.

An Ancient Heart is another good module and it is long.

I am enjoying some of the reccomendations (allthough for some reason I am growing tired of the better graphics in this game then BG2).

Try "The Witcher" (nothing to do with NWN) I am obsessed with it right now. Awesome game, highly recommended.

Another good module series I haven't seen mentioned here is "Sanctum of the Archmage" for NWN1. Somewhat linear (the author claims 'linearity is a quailty'), but excellent roleplaying, and tricky, tactical combat.

I've just finished playing the module Almraiven, and it's excellent. A really well designed city based mystery adventure, with lots of side-quests and interesting interaction with NPCs. And it looks good too, with much more detail in the areas than most modules have. The only reason not to play it is the fact that it's part 1, with a sequel coming out hopefully soon. It is completely self contained though so you can play it with no problems.

I'll also suggest Prophet part 1 by Baldeceran. Again it's got a sequel coming, but you can play it without that being available. It is recommended for multi-player, but works well as a single-player module too.

And one old one, Arandie. Even though it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the newer mods, it's still got an engaging story, with a lot of options for how the game ends. It is for a premade character though, and it is a rogue module in most respects, so if you don't like rogues stay away.
