OMG Ryu Doppler, not the blue screen of death!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had two experiences of this. The first was when, with superb timing, my old PC decided to die a few weeks before last Christmas. The blue screen of death message in that case told me that on this occasion, and not in quite these words, Oblivion had finally beaten the crap out of my Radeon 9800 Pro. Well the PC was 4 yrs old so I got a new one literally three days before Christmas, having kept the old one limping along for 5 weeks. Not fun when you administer a website...
The second time was when I updated to IE7 when prompted to do so by automatic updates. Yea verily, IE7 is the work of the devil, for
IE quickly became obnoxious on me and kept crashing when I tried to D/L anything or open my emails, or administer my other board. Yada, yada.... I then had the blue screen of death and the error message was that "Your BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant"
Rather distraught at having spent GB£1000 on something that was apparently crap, I consulted (1) The computer doctor who helped me set up (2) The manufacturer's technical support (3) The IT department at my workplace (4) My cousin who is a systems engineer.
The reaction from all four of them was a word that equates to "Spherical bouncing objects." And then the IT guy from work said YOU DID WHAAATTT????? IE7? You must get Firefox. Opera, Netscape, anything but IE7. (At the moment I have all of them). For verily it is
IE that hath very nearly wrecked your PC, said he, and hath caused that load of sphericals about your BIOS. Apparently if I had not had McAfee Security suite with autoupdates, it could have been worse!
