This might be an incredibly stupid question, but I've noticed a lot of variables in a lot of the item descriptions and dialouges. Would it be a bad idea to use these sorts of things in the romance conversations so that Jaheira would refer to a female character as a she/female/her instead of as a male?
Or is that completely sidestepping the entire forced heterosexuality thing?

from what little I know of scripting, it would take a total overhaul of there files to make it "him/her" or "she/he". Therefore, It is not impossible, but nearly so.

You could decompile Jaheira's dialogue to .d format, go through each state and delete the ones that won't need to be changed.
With the ones that remain, you'd use the...
REPLACE_SAY filename stateLabel sayString
...command.
So if you're editing Jaheira's banter file, state number 50, it'd look like this:
REPLACE_SAY ~BJaheir~ 50 ~ is not to be toyed with. is a demi-god. Nagnag.~
