Oooh Shae I really like the way you've drawn their gear, especially the technological parts. And, by the way, the feet of the guy on the left are odd o_O They point in two total opposite directions, it looks a bit too unnatural! I'm sorry I didn't notice it before you inked!

Yay, update (three months later...)!

Here's the updated samurai:

I did lengthen her hair. Yeah, I realize the hair's still not too apparent. It's basically the black patches on the sides of her head.

And the first shot of the ninja:

The clothing might be too light. Can darken if you so choose (and anything else you might want).

As soon as these two are finalized, I'll throw them together one way or another. I'm not inclined to include the wu-jen with them, because 1) she doesn't really fit in with them and 2) I don't know when I'll be getting back to her and I wanna get something done for you as soon as possible. Instead, I can either add yet another, more appropriate character with her or I can beef up her image by having her cast a big magical spell of some sort. All up to you, of course.

So that's what I got. Tell me what you think .

Hey Galsic,

I am very happy to see some action after all this time The Samurai is great, even if it noticeable only the top is bloody and none of the skirt armor (I would give it the proper name if I knew it), still it is logical otherwise it would take away from the class of the drawing.
I like the Ninja in his stance and certainly his boots. I can understand you do not wish the clothing to be black as was normal for ninja's, but can you darken it a bit? It is a bit too bright in color now.
As for the Wu-Jen? Why not let it be a calming elemental in comparison to the other two. I like her calmness and would not love to see that undone. After all why not have the wise calm element. Really continue to make her, and perhaps in the combining of the three drawings you can put the Wu-Jen slightly to the side as to show the difference. Really, I am not sure if it is that wrong.

Perfect I would say. I understand you need some time for the Wu-Jen. No worries, there.
I really think the calming effect of the Wu-Jen would be nice against the other two characters... perhaps if the samurai has too much blood, we can use the older version, but I really think it will work out.

Can I ask the artists if there is any interrest in more scenic drawings?
Drawings of Rituals that involve magic (yes, they are a very tiny part of the world)
Ruins of cities made of glass and steel.
Things like that?
I am beginning to see the end of putting up a draft online and I am starting to think of such things as well... but do people like that seeing most artists here are more into portaits/human/monster like things.

Cripes, it's been a year since I started my three characters ! I really hope you weren't waiting on the wu-jen this whole time. If you were, I'm really sorry. Took me much too long to get back to her : / . I finally did get back to her, though.

If/when you come back to this, let me know whatcha think. I still have a (sorta-)workable version of this should you need anything changed. Also, my creative juices are running a bit low at the moment, so if you have anything specific in mind for the magical effect, do let me know. Otherwise, I'm inclined to just throw on some random swirlies (nothing too sloppy, of course) to get it done.

I am glad for any drawing Galsic, and yes I constantly watch the thread hoping somebody will give me something new.
I am actually in the process of making a site for the Campaign Setting.
The drawing - especially the clothes - is stunning.
Very little comes to mind as of now what I would like to see different. What mainly strikes me is her face. She has very thick eyebrows that end very shot, I am not sure if that is custom but it looks at odds with the rest somehow. Perhaps thinner lines and a little longer would be better.
As to the magic effect I would keep it very simple, as the three characters have to be put in one drawing - as you may remember (seeing the ninja & the Wu-jen look at the same direction, I would put them together (Ninja in the middle) - facing away from the samurai)
Perhaps we should leave it away all together - it is clear she is no fighter, but her stance shows she is clearly not a simple commoner.
If anything, I think the colors should be kept faint - and perhaps spirtual like - or a blowing wind effect, that later might be nice, but her hair is perhaps at odds with that.

@Deathsangel: I actually did have some oriental inspiration for the eyebrows (I think...it's been to long since I drew her up ), but if you don't like them, that's fine, I shall change them (to the best of my digital ability, that is). Not that important .

As for the character arrangement, I have a different idea, particular with relation to the ninja and samurai. I wanted it to appear as though the ninja had ill-intent in mind for the samurai (y'know, leering back at her while beginning to draw his blade). More importantly, though, while the ninja may be looking one way, the drawing as a whole is actually pointing the other way. As such, my idea had always been to have the samurai in the middle, ninja on the left and a bit in the background, and the wu-jen somewhere on the right (probably a bit in the background, too, to emphasize the samurai's role as a front-line fighter). Those were my ideas, anyway : / . It's up to you, of course.

And I think I'll go ahead throw on some subtle magic effect, just to better convey what the wu-jen actually is.

Aside from those issues, everything else is fine, then? RL is gonna get a bit hectic for me, so I might not be able to get back to any of this for a week or two. I guess that should give you some time to think on all this some more.

Well, wouldn't you think that different characters might have different senses of style? I kinda liked the idea, anyway ...

But never mind. Since I failed to find any conclusive references (at least not of an oriental flavor) to the brows, I went ahead and edited them. I added a magical effect and made additional edits to areas that didn't make sense to me, as well.


Also, what of the suggestion I made in my last post about the character arrangement?

Meh, I'm coming up blank on what to do with the background/negative space. Perhaps some suggestions from others may help or, better yet, someone else can finish it up for me! I'm sure at least a few of y'all have greater skillz than I .

Meanwhile, I got to doodling the other night and this is what I came up with thus far:

I noticed KedorLao never finished his tratu fiend and, for giggles and kicks, I thought I'd give it a shot. At this point, I'm guessin' he wouldn't mind me taking over. Not sure what to do with ratboy's left hand right yet (perhaps holding a pistol or something...suggestions?)

Then again, I may be get'n a lil ahead of myself. I don't even know if/why you'd want something new now, but there it is.

Those look great Galsic! The Kimono patterns and blood splatters draw my attention the most. I don't think you really need to do anything with the background, since these are meant to be just showing the characters I think? The Tratu fiend sketch looks good too, especially the face.

And now, finally, I have finished colouring the picture I was working on I'm awfully sorry that it took so long, something about this picture just kept stumping me in terms of colouring. But anyway, here we go:

@Shae: Well, originally, I wanted to show a bit more interaction between the characters, like the ninja sneaking up on the other two from the shadows or somesuch. I suppose I could try something in the future if/when inspiration strikes me, but I had Deathsangel waithing on these since October '08 :/, at least partly for the same reason as you.

I still say a background would be nice, but if you say you don't need a background, then who am I to argue ?

And what's more wicked lookin' than a kris dagger? I tweaked a few other areas as well. Still needs some clean-up on top of whatever changes you may want.
