Hi all. Is there any way I can install TDD and BP without installing the level 50 ruleset that seems to come with TDD?

I'm not actually sure this would work: you could try a couple of mods that install different level-sets that are lower than 50. G3 BG2 Tweaks and Zyraen's mods have this option. Install them after TDD/BP.

I heard about experiance bug that may show up after installing level 40 rules when 50 is already set.
Also other rules changing only xplevel.2da and/or xpcap.2da. What about files like msxplwiz.tp2 (changing spell gaining tables per level) and others that are updated by TDD (or maybe RoT? - not sure but it must be one of BP family mods :/) to level 50 cheat rules and changed values for original levels 1-40 ~~. I will be more than thankfull if someone could tell me which mods add these "revised" files and what I should erase from tp2 (or folders) to NOT allow them to change my original ToB rules without cousing any errors and bugs in game. Maybe it's just me but i think tweaks should always be an optional components...

Even better, search out the files yourself. Once you've extracted (not installed) all your mods, search thru the folders to determine which contain the 2DA's that need to be switched, replace them with the Level-whatever files you want to use. Then do installation.

I managed to find the XPLEVEL.2da file in the RULE folder. Will simply deleting this remove the level 50 ruleset or are there other files I have to remove? As you can see I'm a noob at this

I tried this but there are only xplevel & xpcap files there. All changes to the mxspl***.2da and other rule files are seems to be done in other way than just copy by weidu mod installer 2da files to override folder. I can't find them in mod folders. Hope someone show with files I need to edit in TDD, RoT and other rules changer mods to prevent level 50 rules.

For all that want to change only xplevel.2da & xpcap.2da here's a location and files that you need to swap with original ToB ones:

The Darkest Day 50 rules
\TDD\RULE\XPLevel.2da

Region of Terror 50 rules
\RoTerror\2DA\XPLevel.2da

Refinements 40 rules with cap removal
\refinements\hlab\_shared\copy\XPLevel.2da, XPCap.2da

BP cap removal:
skip component: Level-50 Ruleset (Code By King Diamond) <- this option should be in all mods that change rules without permisson ;)

G3 Tweaks:
skip component: "Change Experience Point Cap" and others that exchange spell & thaco tables.

you can run this

COPY_EXISTING_REGEXP GLOB ~^.+\.2da$~ ~override~

before the installation of the mods, copy 2da files from override, then install mods, look through your 2da backup and restore those that seem necessary. Their names are likely intuitive understandable.

You could run

dir /s *.2da (using a DOS window, or Start-Run-cmd)

from your game folder. Direct it to a file...

dir /s *.2da > sometextfile.txt

then look thru the file for the 2DA's you want to change.

Remember, these files have to be change before you install the mod(s) in question.

I tried using the cheats to max out my party's level and I found out that besides the level 50 cap, there's also a 20,000,000 experience cap.

What should I do now if I wish to keep the level 50 cap but change the experience cap to maybe 10,000,000?

hi yeah i found the xpcap.2da file in the folder \BGII - SoA\SOS\over.bak

but this comes from the shadows over soubar module isn't it?
is this the file i should edit to change the exp cap?

or should i be looking for a file from BG2's original game folders?

that means SoS biffed if. You can just take the file from BGII - SoA\SOS\over.bak, edit in whatever way you want and drop it in override. It will work.

It all depends on what you want to do, and how you want to play. If you want to run a 3 class multi-class character, your XPCAP.2da file needs to total enough XP points to reach level 50 in all 3 classes, or if you only want level 40, then enough to reach level 40.
