Hi everyone,

After several years of portrait making and other graphical assistance to the modding community, Sol-Ek-Sa as an organization and forum will be discontinued shortly. It has been a great help to many modders, but has lately been inactive and its leader, khayman, decided not to continue working with SES in its current form.

Instead, SES will be superceded by another resource, which will be revealed very soon. In the meantime, the SES forum will disappear.

We urge everyone to save any information and artwork within the next 2 days; after that SES will be taken down. Very little will survive and remain in public view. If you don't save everything you would have liked to, feel free to contact K'aeloree or myself and we will do our best to find it for you.

There's 3 years worth of posts over there. Would it be possible to extend the deadline a few more days, give some of us who didn't frequent there a chance to peruse the threads?

Is archiving this forum an option? Rather silly of me to ask after what's happened to CR/NPC Damage/Illyria/Kivan forums with many interesting and useful discussion threads and materials, but still.

Sol-Ek-Sa has been a valuable source of help and creativity in this community. It is with regret that I read the news. I want to thank all the people there that have been gentle and kind with me when I made my own request. In particular, Plasmocat for her patience and kindness.

Sol-Ek-Sa is dead! Long live Sol-Ek-Sa!

Sure, we can definitely do that. :) So, 4 days from today it'll be taken down.

All of those forums were taken down at the request of the author, and it is the same with Sol Ek Sa - the leaders decided that they would prefer it to be taken down entirely. I do not appreciate what you are insinuating about deletions. Nothing has been deleted, everything is archived but remains hidden from public view at the request of the authors.

Truly a shame. Plasmocat has helped so many people with high quality original pictures for NPC's. Sol-Ek-Sa is one of the most valuable resources to our modding community. I know most people who helped Sol-Ek-Sa are busy with other mods or life, it is just a shame many new mods will not have this resource.

Oh, but they will, leahnkain! :) The new resource which will supercede Sol Ek Sa is bigger and I believe it will also be more active, and will help modders more than Sol Ek Sa did - in more ways than just portraits!

I hope so. I became friends with many of Sol-Ek-Sa's members. I wish all of the former Sol-Ek-Sa staff the best, you have all earned my deepest gratitude.

First, this is a lie - not all of them were taken down at the author's request. Second, I do not think it is up to the author of the mod to delete the forum - the discussion threads, ideas and thoughts are not the mod author's property. And third - is there a specific reason an average user cannot read these archived materials any more?

I would appreciate it if you would not derail this thread any further by discussing this. The issue has since long been resolved to everyone's satisfaction (but yours, apparantly), and was as I recall so without you even being remotely involved. As you weren't involved and thus aren't speaking from your own experience of the situation, your arguments can easily be labeled as hearsay.

Second, I do not think it is up to the author of the mod to delete the forum - the discussion threads, ideas and thoughts are not the mod author's property.

That is your subjective opinion; last time I checked, you weren't the legislator of international and US copyright laws.

And third - is there a specific reason an average user cannot read these archived materials any more?

If referring to SES, yes; Sol-Ek-Sa has, as an organization represented by its leaders, asked all material made under its name to be taken down. Please compare this to a similar request from any other organization; Bioware comes to mind. If they ever decide to pull the plug on the IE modding community, there's nothing we can do.

Enough OT; back to to discussing Sol-Ek-Sa. :)

Then change the name of the forum to Portraits-R-Us.

I'm afraid that's not an option - no matter what we change the forum name to, all material has still been created under the name Sol-Ek-Sa. :)

It's a pity this has happened.

I regret that my lack of involvement has contributed to Sol-Ek-Sa's end. I've no explanation to give other than once my classes started, I simply did not dispose of the amount of time to give requests the attention I felt they deserved.

Perhaps once I've finished my courses I'll attempt to join the successor to SES.

I'd not worry about this, in my stint there you were one of the better perps there. Still, a private joke here means I can smile.

At the minimum, it might be worth polling the community on what they'd like to have access too once the forums are no longer accessible.

how come you always look so damn cool in every photo I see you in?!?

Speaking of modding, I listened to IER 3 yesterday, so you can have another quote for your signature: how come you sound so damn cool, as well as look it? It's unfair. Seriously.

Still a cyberjock, still hacking the matrix, still unsure of what that means.
