I forget; is Euthyphro's Dilemma considered a low blow now? ;/

I don't know - am I then allowed to quote Aquinas back at you? XD

Oh, I forgot about the thoughtcrime  . How could I forget. Thanks Goddess I'm I have my own morality.

Sorry? Did a fictional totalitarian government somehow insinuate itself into the discussion when I wasn't looking? :P

You can. I don't think you really want to, though. ;/

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

Well, now I'm curious - so in this hypothetical sequence of events, how would you, hypothetically, respond?

(I just realized this is now rather off-topic. Which was sort of my fault in the first place, I guess. :P )

Yes, that's the kind of people I was talking about. Perfectly unable to see satire and giving properties of real people to fictional objects.

Here, Isilven, I made something special for you :) .

On what conceivable grounds?

The grounds that I was, in fact, at least partially responsible for Mirrabbo having a fit and closing down the forums a while ago. Something to do with deleting posts or something--I don't really remember.

This post CAN'T be for Real, right?

Delight, tell the truth now - you've had some daddy/brother/cousin/boyfriend/husband problems in your past, haven't you?

Killing innocent women...

Or, maybe did you bump your head on some furniture or something?

Killing...innocent...women... ???

Lets back up here a minute. As wonderful a game as BG2 Is: It is a GAME.

A game.

It is not Real.

It is Make Believe.

So, if I *Kill* something (or someone) in this Game, *They* are not *Really* -DEAD-; mainly because (whisper) they are not really alive. (And while we're at it, Homer Simpson doesn't Really work in a nuke plant...he's a paid actor playing a roll.)

Alright, I see what you are saying, maybe... But here is the thing, if the argument goes "Video games corrupt morals, and may lead to the person who "kills innocent women" in game to do it IRL... Welp, SOME people are not to tightly wrapped to begin with. Fer example, one of my favorite films is a horror movie called Dawn of the Dead - in it dead people come back and devour the living. I have seen it so often I can quote lines.

Yet, IRL I have yet to start nibbling on my neighbors leg! (Not that I haven't thought about it, but my wife is a Reeealllly good shot!)

REALITY!

game

REALITY!

game

Why stop at women, lets have a game where you can't kill children or men either. For that matter, there are a LOT of "Creatures" in BG2 that the player can kill. Lets contact PETA (That stands for People Eating Tasty Animals; or something) and start a "SAVE THE DRANGONS" campaign!

We Already have to worry about Recreational Incest (Imoen Romance) and Interracial (or speices?) dating (If one romances Vicci for sure) what's one More worry to trouble one'self about after all that... ( ! )

The reason I Play games is to wallow in the fantasy realm angle. (I don't play, say, Metal Gear -outside of the Real old NES version- as I want to relax, not have to take SEAL training in order to play effectively. And if I want to kill women, little kids or dragons, it's really okay because the next time I start a new game they will be magically resurected. (AHHH THE DEAD LIVE!!!!)

Last, since you are so against "Killing Innocent Women" in BG2 (How about just smacking Nalia around once or twice?) consider this:

1. All the women in the game are made up of pixels and poligons and lines of code.

2. There are A LOT of them. (Innocent children created in the same way too.)

3. If you have ever played BG2 and then Uninstalled it, you have Destroyed these innocent women and children Utterly! In fact, when I think about it, you may be a Serial Killer!

Better get yourself to the nearest police station and confess.

 :crying:

Better yet, install either Game Be Gone or Circle Mod - either of those will give you new insight into what characters get up to when you're not watching.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry - but my head hurts!

MiM - So, is it WRONG to cast Fireball on the Athkatla "Little Adventurers Daycare Center" ???

They say the world is going to Hell.

They are wrong.

The world IS Hell! Always has been, always will be; except perhaps for the five percent or so of the population who can afford differently.

And, if one must reside in Hell, it is far better to do it as a minion of the Devil than as a member of the damned.

Don't worry, it's a joke topic. :)

Also, now I want to play Metal Gear. Nuts, I'm supposed to be writing!

I just love when people respond without reading threads  .

Read it again Minotaur and you'll discover certain important information about the nature of my post.
When reading the thread you may discover a certain person that deserves a comment like you made.

A clue - the person I'm talking about writes like this:

PATRICK, YOU HURT MY SOUL. INNOCENT WOMEN SHOULDN'T BE KILLED, BUT INNOCENT CHILDREN SHOULD.

So I peek in after a mini-vacation, just in time to see stabs being taken at people who do not even check in.

Awesome!

Cheers for nixing it, K'aeloree.
