And it's one of my favourite characters too. The relationship is difficult. A bit love-hate for sure.
I just can't be angry long with Saemon, even if I groan every time I see him. But I still like him, and my characters consider him a friend, albeit a very annoying one they'd like to skewer sometimes (but never really would).
This picture rather annoys me, though I don't know why. I guess he doesn't look quite snarky enough 
. I may mess with it a little more.
I tried to get the lines smoother than they were in Aerie's pic as well, which worked a bit, though his sword looks wavy.
I didn't realize it until I came back to this forum to post, but isn't it odd that everyone envisions Saemon with a Rapier?
Very nice! I too love doing OOTS style drawings, though so far I have only done historical things (a Kenyan girl, a a Chief of Benin, a Maya, and a Roman from a certain time. I used to sit in our school's library with history books and eyewitness guides, and look for things to convert to OOTS. Gods, I loved doing that. I would draw them in pencil by hand, indicate which colours would be needed for which part, use my architect's tracing table at home to make a copy and ink that. Then I would scan it, and colour it on the computer according to what colours I had written down. They always ended up incredibly detailed and quite tall [and my heads seemed larger than the actual OOTS ones, but they worked], so that only the simplest of them just worked as an avatar in the forums. You might have seen my avatar in their forums, it's the Roman. My username there is the same as here [if you see "Jazhara7" anywhere, it's most likely me. I've yet to see even one person who uses that too. I've only seen one other "Jazhara" so far, over at deviantart, and she registered after me.).
Have you tried giving him something like stubble, a goatee, or something along those lines?
