On a side note, I think it's fun asking people what gender they think Vaarsuvius from OOTS is. I found that guys usually answer "female", while girls (including me) seem to think he's male. Of course, there's always exceptions. And in both cases we can't really explain why we have that opinion. There must be something that gives the impression, but neither party can ever put their finger on it.
I tend to lean slightly towards "him" being male, personally. (It's like, 50% male, 40% female, and 10% either "neither", "both" or "just plain WTF???"...)
Well, since my attempts at realism don't seem to work all that well, here's a cheesy little anime Aerie with a cheesy little anime... wing thingy. And stuff?
...I dunno. She might still look too much like Legolas.
(No, I don't spam these topics. It... only looks that way! Honest!)
Heh, I still think he is definitely, 100% male. In an elven kind of way. And of course, there's also about 32% of "Whiskey Tango Foxtrott?!" in there. (Yes, I know that's more than 100%. It's on a different scale, you see, I won't tell you which one, though.
No, I have no idea what I'm actually talking about right now. I'm making this up as I go along.
...
Still here? Move along, already!)
Make up your mind, Vilkacis, boobs or wings
Pretty! I like the wings, they look a bit mechanical. I always had a thing for mechanical, bladed wings. No wonder I like the Steelwings in Tamora Pierce's Tortall books. Well, I like their wings. The Steelwings themselves are rather nasty. And I much prefer the Crows (and Nawat. Nawat is *GREAT*! Crow mean for the win!) in her "Trickster" books from the Tortall universe ("Trickster's Choice" and "Trickster's Queen".). Actually, I always love Crows, and Corvids. They're so beautiful, and the smartest birds you'll ever find. I love them.
Anyway. I like the wings.
here is my addition. Aerie before she lost her wings and became a whinny little brat. I love drawing wings.
I agree, this is your best piece so far. Your style fits Aerie perfectly. And she looks much more confident than in the game. It's great!
I seem to always end up drawing wings. Keck, my little Dragon baby Iggy has feathered wings! I don't know why, but I always end up drawing feathered wings, although I know full well that I just can't draw them very well. Oh well.
Vaarsuvius = male. Period.
Seconding this liek tewtally.
And I third this,
like, consummately!Well, after lurking for nearly four years, I finally registered just so I could post a response, because as I was looking at all these beautiful submissions I found myself doodling on a nearby piece of paper...
That said, this is an inordinately grand lead-in to a work which rather pales beside all the talent on display here - so without further ado-
Yay!
Another one recruited to SHS via Fanart Challenges! Welcome to Spellhold, thank you for finally joining us and participating in the Challenge, Clary! Your Aerie is indeed cute and very much like her! I hope we'll see more of your "doodlings" soon!
Heh, I just wanted to say, it seems the Art challenge draws all people to register (The pun was not intended, though I still like it).
Oh, and your style too works perfectly with Aerie. I love how you draw, and it looks and feels absolutely beautiful.
Huh, it says "Friday 30th June" in the first post. Today is Friday, 29th June. Silly me! Terribly sorry about that - someone totally should have kicked me for it and make me fix it. Anyway, the challenge closes now, so all entries before this post will be counted to the stats. Aerie drawings are more than welcome after this post too, so please don't be shy!
Challenge 12 has been opened for you, so move over there!
Aww, man. I missed it just by a few hours? It's still Friday the 29th here!
Oh well.

Here's my Aerie, as drawn a few days ago. It's only a five minute sketch (What's this? Not a chibi? And not a simplified comicy style either? Who are you, and what have you done with the real Jazhara?!

) I might colour it one day, but I don't have the nerve right now.
