[Adslahnit]

I recently just did a MegaMod install of BG. Problem is, the stutter bug has struck, making it very hard for me to play. FRAPS reports an FPS of ~20 as opposed to my set option of 60 FPS. I've already tried the Baldur.bcs from the sticky, but it doesn't really help solve the stutter problem. My BG is configured to run with the best graphical options since my computer could handle it previously. Also, I'm not running any background programs while playing BG, so that can't be the problem. Here are my computer specs:

Windows Vista Ultimate (Aero disabled)
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 SE (Latest drivers for Vista)
Creative Audigy 2 Gamer ZS (Latest drivers for Vista)

I recently just did a MegaMod install of BG. Problem is, the stutter bug has struck, making it very hard for me to play. FRAPS reports an FPS of ~20 as opposed to my set option of 60 FPS. I've already tried the Baldur.bcs from the sticky, but it doesn't really help solve the stutter problem. My BG is configured to run with the best graphical options since my computer could handle it previously. Also, I'm not running any background programs while playing BG, so that can't be the problem. Here are my computer specs:

Windows Vista Ultimate (Aero disabled)
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80GHz
1 GB RAM
ATI Radeon 9600 SE (Latest drivers for Vista)
Creative Audigy 2 Gamer ZS (Latest drivers for Vista)

Alright, I'll take note of all that and do what you recommend.

For the "Always Toughest Random Spawns" components of Tactics, how exactly might it interfere with the other mods? Should I install it last next time or should I keep it as it is in the current install order?

Well, the stutter bug is still there. I'm already up to Chapter 4 of BG1 (very hard with all the lag), and the stutter is definitely not helping.

Did you pick up any bags/scroll cases etc?

i had the same problem and even though i had less than 20 items in a bag, for some unknown reason i had major stutter/lag when i had them in the invents, and it disappeared when i dumped them.

Just something else to try.

I later picked up another bag and didnt get any stutter at all, so have no idea if the bags were causing it in the first place,

Have you any outstanding quests for your npc's?, ive heard it can clear up when you complete them too, but im not 100% sure if that was for BG1 or the other 2.

Check who has any unfinished quests in your party, then kick em out one by one. In my case this was the biggest cause of stutter. Big stashes of over 1500 items also not recommended.

Did it get any better or worse in the Underdark? For me it was particularly painstakingly slow - I had forgotten to remove drow avatars. The avatar slowdown hadn't given me a problem pre mega install though.

NPC Quests: I'm soloing through the game (to potentially minimize lag).

Well, that doesn't really help pinpoint the cause of the stutter, now does it?
