Does anybody know why the BGT installation is telling me that my Windows Vista is too new
Undetectable Windows version. Possably too new. Installation may fail.
Then it does not recognize the install path
I had had some problems awhile ago (turns out it was My Winrar) and was told there wasn`t any issues with Vista
Can anybody help

Is it just saying "Invalid Baldur's Gate installation directory, restarting..."? If so, what is the exact path to your BG1 directory? Try removing any symbols in that path and try again. If not, make sure you aren't adding any terminal slashes to the directory that you type in to the prompt. This doesn't sound like a problem with Vista specifically.

Telling us that it worked won't help anyone else that will have this problem in the future. Can you tell us what exactly was the problem and what exactly you did to fix it. I mentioned a whole string of things to do in my response to your query.

Well, the path problem and the WeiDU saying that the Windows version is too new and may fail is two different problems...
The path problem being that you need to give it the exact path in quote marks, if I remember it correctly... So put something like this to the requested console line:
"C:/games/Baldur's Gate"
...cause you don't want to install the BG1 in program files folder on Vista, trust me. Nor do you wish the BG2.

The WeiDU saying... is a case of the programmer not having a Vista OS, and thus not knowing the unique ins and outs of the OS, and thus not being able to program to look for it, it has nothing to do with the program actually faling unless you are not using a Windows based computer.
