@ Spike - Or we could let them quote as much as they want, but just replace the image/thing they are quoting with <snip>, that would work just as well, wouldn't it?

It is not the quoteing that bothers me just the flood of the same over and over images.

I just wish there was somthing that turned images into links when quoted.

yes, about that, I was acutally hoping to see if maybe the SHS staff had a solution...

isn't there a board mod that would shrink the quoted images to thumbnails?

Oh also we should make a rule about quoteing screenshots somehow. Sometimes the same 5 huge screenshots are quoted 3 or 4 posts in a row.

I think that's a good idea. They can always be snipped out, but the poster's name left in a quote tag. That way, people will know which pictures you're commenting on, but it won't make the thread unmanageably long.

Nah, the quoter changes it to <SNIP>. Sounds fair to me! No image, but you can click on the quote to find what they are reffering to!

I would really prefer not to make it so that [img] doesn't work in quotes - I'm sure it has a valid (and not annoying) purpose. Perhaps, when quoting, make a habit of changing [img] into [url]?

EDIT: Or *SNIP*/<SNIP> is fantastic, too.

As for the issue of server space - seriously, don't worry about it! We have more than enough server space for anything you guys might come up with.

As Ilmatar, I was pleasantly surprised to see this thread - it's great to see everyone taking initiative, discussing problems and finding ways to solve them... You guys and girls are a fantastic bunch, and I'm extremely glad you're enjoying yourselves here!

Although I'm fine with putting <SNIP> or <HOT CHICK> or <FARGOTH> or whatever in the quote instead of the entire image.

Yeah...I don't think we should do the newbie/veteran sections. How else will the newbies learn the ropes?
As for what could change the insane rate at which all of us post...I have no idea. But I think splitting newbies and veterans is a bad idea.

Rating would easily lead to giving some amount of stars (or whatever) to a shot or a story and leaving it at that, making actual commenting harder and thus more rare. I would rather hear and give comments, than rate somewhat anonymously, without any further explanations.

It usually ends up with people posting stuff just for ratings

No to the rating thing and no to the splitting the thread between veterans and new-posters.

That would be in direct dissagreement with the OP, which says we are trying to make it so people feel like you don't have any inside/outside groups.
