Just for amusement sometime I should post some screenshots of some of the FAILED tabaxi face textures of the past. Sometimes things that look really good in Photoshop end up looking like cat vomit in game.

... I've probably hand painted about twenty tabaxi face textures that were utter disasters.

@ Luchaire - That sounds like her. For some reason, I was in the Imperial City and Nina had broken away from the party to talk to female Nord, and for some some reason she did not like her at all! She winded up stabbing the Nord and we fled the city this was followed by IG Hector cuddling her by the camp fire! And Jade managed to butt her way into the cuddle session. Lucky IG Hector is so big, or he may have a hard time handling them!

And He already has a hard time handling them!

It's these conversations we have that are just so freaking hilarious.

To summarize what happened (there will be a full story on this eventually when I have time):
Zero's home of Kvatch is destroyed,
Zero and Aisha arrive too late,
They meet Kahn Tzu, a warlord from a clan that seeks to dominate Tamriel,
They battle, and Kahn knocks out Zero and kills Aisha, leaving Zero alive to suffer,
Kahn leaves to further fufill his plans,
Zero later awakes to find nothing left of Kvatch and Aisha dead,
He mourns for her, unwilling to accept she is gone,
Zero curses the gods and swears vengance on Kahn Tzu.

My original plan for the second rendition of them was to be black with white stripes. But somehow I got sidetracked and never actually did it.

Oh, I know why. Too many people were requesting white (ocelot-patterned, actually) and solid black.

I personally like this skin tone better. Matching the fur color I think looks much better than the stark difference between skin, and fur color seen here.

Just a personal opinion though.

I've never been able to solve the problem of them being entirely too reflective in the light. It's annoying. I've followed every guide I can find on the subject, done everything right as near as I can tell, and they still glow like Chernobyl in light sources.

I've saved the base texture as a DXT1 with solid white alpha layer, with a DXT3 normal map with solid black alpha layer... and still they reflect like mirrors.

I got frustrated and put them aside.

After sleeping and editing the purple retextured Sorceress outfit is ready to go. About the only thing I haven't done perfectly is the readme. Oh well.
I tested the mod myself, it was tough to get to the place I put the outfit, but it works

My usual tester person I'd call upon hasn't joined this place, and isn't online as much anymore, so if someone wants to give it an unbiased test, PM me and I'll send the zipped file.

That looks fine, to me, that'd be good for release, the only thing that bugs me, is the face, a little, but, eh, it looks really good =)

Irony of ironies... after posting that I went and played with the body texture some more and somehow (NFI how) reduced the reflectiveness to near nil. What I *think* had been going on before was that my normal maps weren't saving with the alpha channel at all (despite me telling it to... *mutter*).

Anyway, reflectiveness solved... so maybe I'll finish that version.

And yeah, I'm not happy with the face, either. I just haven't come up with a suitable alternative yet.

@ Luchaire - Yes, currently the black Tabaxi do resemble the PotA characters. But don't give up. Perhaps, as Spike and SeV mentioned, if the pink part of the face was darkened (maybe a dark grey?), it would work just fine. The other dark tabaxi variant

Looks quite good as well. And I know I would love to see some nonspotted dark ones like Spike mentioned. Or maybe Calico?

Just make sure he doesn't have more than two girls at a time and he can have one leg and one arm for each girl. At least in public situations. It actually does work quite marvelously well.
