yep, race has to be the same otherwize you get a messed up face.

A very usefull utility: Oblivion Face Exchange Lite
With this tool, you can change your character's name, hairstyle, hair length, hair color, eyes and copy face from a another save file, from a face file, from text that is copied to the clipboard or from a non-player character. This allows you to change your character's look and continue to playing your character without starting a new game.
You may also share your character looks more easily with your friends by exporting your character's face to a "face file". This file may also include preview pictures from your character's look, short description from the look, your homepage and email address. You can also copy-paste your character's look to/from clipboard.
It is also possible to use hair styles and eyes that are not normally available for your character's race or gender. You can also try to move faces from other gender and races to your character, but this normally will crash Oblivion when you try to open your save file (don't overwrite your save files).
Since version 1.2.0, program scans automatically all new or changed plugins from the Oblivion's data folder and import their objects to the program.
Whit this, it becomes very easy to import a face from another saved game to yours, or share face files without the need to exchange whole saved game files; no need for Wrye Bash.

Hey, how can I simply change my companion's hair in CS?
I mean how to PROPERLY change hair.
I loaded Rhianna and Ren's hairpack in CS.
Found Rhianna and changed her yellow chicken hair.
Then saved.
Now, loading new changed plugin, cause Oblivion to freez while loading.
Anyway, someone help a CS noob.
Whatever Im doing wrong.

I tried to follow the answer given & it allows be to put Ren's hair on a Nord or Imperial etc, but not on the "Partygirl" I'm trying to edit.
How can I get the Ren hair options in the list below.
If I change race to a Nord I get the hair, but it resets everything else.

I hope someone is still checking this forum! I have a save game, character name Autumn, that I would like to use her face for a partner. So, I created the face library.esp and in Wrye Bash, right-clicked it, import face, and chose Autumn's save. It says it imported sgUnkaAutumn00. No problem so far. However, when I go in in the CS and check all the files I am supposed to check, load them, and then double-click sgUnkaAutumn00 so that I can copy her face to the companion, sgUnkaAutumn00 is set to Imperial race even though I also loaded the Cute Elf race. If I change her to cute elf in the CS, it just gives me the default face for that race, not Autumn's face. What am I doing wrong?
(I also tried this with another save game that is Chocolate Elf race and the same thing happens. She's set to imperial.)
