I was recently looking over Nalia's Romance again, when it struck me: Has anyone tried to make a WeiDU version of this, one that is perhaps compatible with Ascension, or is it just stuck the way it is?

It's possible that the existing Nalia romance will be compatible with WeiDU Ascension if installed first. I am not aware of any plans for a WeiDU version.
On the other hand, JC will be along fairly shortly to tell you that there is a "de'Arnise Romance" in the works at Forgotten Wars, which will naturally use WeiDU.

OK, so now that we've gotten that out of the way, does anyone have an opinion on the Nalia Romance as it is now? What'll make the d'Arnise Romance different?

Imo, arnel's Nalia has an unfinished feel to it. The best thing about it is that it explains the original troll invasion of the keep quite well. The romance itself and other subplots are pretty sketchy.
Dunno what JC intends; he's still in the planning stage apparently and hasn't given much detail. Based on his track record though, the plot resolution will be more elaborate and at least equally good and there will be more, and much better, characterizations.

Arnel's Nalia Romance is an unfinished, abandoned project. I wouldn't bother with it.
