Your last area is very impressive. (I'm still gawking at it with my mouth open, to be honest).

It's strange, really: I wasn't very comfortable with other areas, because I could recognize the parts of them: the tiles, the textures and so on. But here - I don't know how, the floor and the lights in the water, perhaps - it is both very BG-ish and utterly unrecognizable. Awesome. :)

Kulyok,

Thank you very much... but I tend to use elements from the games and move them all around. If you have played IWD, you would probably recognize many of these features. AR4004 and AR4005 (bottom of Dragon's Eye). I draw in the missing pieces I want, and take out furnishings, move walls around, etc. The waterfall was drawn in PS... but the pool and water texture is from the entrance cavern to Windspear. I made the pools bigger, and reconstructed the water and light reflections over a larger area... and extended the water in those IWD areas. End result is something rather unique :)

Damn. Awesome work. Think you could whip out a few quick interiors for Balduran's Seatower?

Thank you too Miloch :)

If you would like, I would be happy to lend my services to your cause when I have finished this area. Interiors of smaller rooms are fairly easy... and looking at your drawings, it should be simple to make 'new' areas with existing stuff for BG1 type areas.

That'd be great . I don't mind reusing stuff - I was thinking even the kuo-toa caves could be recycled from sahuagin areas in BG2.

Hey, no problemo. I'll send you a PM when I am ready to start. I should be able to come up with some stuff that looks familiar and fits in nicely with BG1, but different enough to 'feel' different.

I am going to start another thread about area making... I guess in the Electric Chair forum, and see what kind of interest there is in people learning how to do that. I get alot of PM's about it... maybe a seminar online.

Mostly for Sir_Kill, but for anyone else that wants it. Here is the overlay tileset I made for this waterfall animation. I needed one to match the color of the other water overlay that I used.

Attached File  cvfall.rar   21.57K   187 downloads

Let me know if you have problems with this file, the browser will not let me upload the tileset without compression.

Wowsers!

I haven't been posting much here of late as I have been busy in other areas (as well as following your advice Cuv, on Area Making, and my work has improved, thanks) but having seen the above, I feel the need to ask:

Do you find it easier or harder to do INSIDE areas as opposed to outside scapes?

Me, I have to admit that the Interal areas are enough to make me tear my hair out at times, but the outside places, whilst still difficult at times (Perspective wise especially) can be ... relaxing.

Just wondering.

I may Have to drop you a line again soon, if I may.

Minotaur et' all.
