Hi, this is my first mod installation of BG (well second attempt of it, the first one had similar problems thought.). Anyway I based it on the instructions from the huge 180 mod install described on this forum, except that I skipped many of the smaller mods, and all BG1 mods (installed BGT thought, because the instructions said it will fix something). I didn't deleted the cd paths from baldur.ini (the game kept asking for cd otherwise) and also didn't applied that minsc.bcs that was supposed to be on http://www.mkracht.de (the link doesn't work and I couldn’t find it elsewhere), and some mods that I used were the more recent versions, but otherwise I had followed the rules in http://www.shsforums...p...ost&id=4745 quite precisely, especially the installation order of the mods.

Well, when I start the game (new SoA, I don't want to play BG1), I appear it the Irenicus dungeon, fall to the ground and appear in Candlekeep with Gorion. Than i quicksaved the game, however when I try to load it (or the autosave) a bg2 intro will suddenly start and than a cutscene with two figures and a throne saying something about a region (I guess it is the region of terror mod). After that cutscene I appear back in Irenicus dungeon but the game will not resume to be playable.

I also tried to play the Candlekeep area without saveloading. However, when I skipped the chores the game will CTD shortly after the start of the following battle cutscene.

BTW my first installation attempt ended in not being able to resume after the cutscene after loading the game too, expect that the Candlekeep part wasn't there (eg. I loaded savegame from Irenicus dungeon). I didn't installed chores for g3 fix pack fix and 1stmod and done other minor things differently that time.

I would appreciate any help to get my current installation working and/or comments on my install.

Also I have one non-technical question. I would prefer more story based experience than just more fighting (eg. I liked Planescape Torment, not Trials of the Luremaster, which were just one battle after antother). Could anyone tell me which of the (big) mods are better suited for my goal, and which should I probably skip?

Well that thread is not so easy to understand... Anyway I can't really connect it to my problem. It sais "where BG2 Fixpack and RoT is installed... as the EXTEND_TOP gives RoT precedence over the new game routine, you never get a new game". But I can get start a new game, problem with interface stars when I load it!

Another (linked) thread sais "I got thrown in the cage as usual, but Irenicus just doesn't show up and the interface is gone" Again, my problem with interface starts after loading the game. Besides, I am being transfered during that loading between Irenicus dungeon and Candlekeep. And the solution is a removal of Faster Cutscenes and I don't think I have that in my install.

Another destription "RoT's EXTEND_TOP file - tAR0602.baf - is needed if using CtB Chores with a flavor of Baldurdash -- otherwise, the Chores start scene will either crash-to-desktop after Gorion finishes his dialogue, *or* the scene will return to AR0602 but the main character will be stuck in the cage, as a child sprite, and the entire scene cannot advance." But my game CTD not during chores scene, but somewhat later during scene after leaving the Candlekeep. And again the return to cage happends after loading the game, not during play. And I don't have Ding0's Tweak Pack, Ding0's Experience Fixer installed as mentioned in the thread.

90% of what you wrote relates to EXTEND_TOP issues. These are called 'cutscene problems', where the game is running but you as the player cannot manipulate it.

As erebusant wrote, your solutions are in that thread. If you cannot understand it, then you should explain exactly which parts you don't understand.

You say you are following the "biggest running MegaInstall" thread. If you understand German, then try asking for assistance from their forum, as someone may have discovered similar issue and will want more info about problems.

If you have CtD later in your game, then that is due to some other mod conflict. Trouble is, it'll be impossible to determine which one unless someone has had the same problem as you.

The only suggestion I can provide is that you install the mods one at a time, start a new game, see if it works. At the stage where it does not work, then come back and report which mod caused the problem. Then we can TRY to determine the cause. If you do this, make sure the order of mods installed matches an installation that is known to work.

Ok, read the thread once more. I think I need to use the new tAR0602.BAF. I tried just overwriting the current one in game directory but that doesn't do anything - Ok, I am using my backup made before RoT installation and will do (nearly) complete reinstall of the game. Plz tell me if I am doing it right.

IT IS WORKING!

The tAR0602.BAF did not help (no effect at all), but I found the way to get rid of my cutscene problem by not installing the Mortis' Mini-mod v2.31. (Tested adding mods one after another and the problem started after its installation).

As for the CTD, I didn't istalled Chores this time, so I don't have the part with it in the game at all.
