Hm. Since RE is a different mod, getting all this content in the same go is a little unessecary, but hey who am I to argue
Anyways, good to see things nearly ready for a release date, and the sooner people stop bouncing (yes you know who you are :P ) about Darian and actually play with him, the better.

Ah man! Always phrase these things wrong... NO JOKE INTENDED :ermm:

Uh huh.

Just got another big email full of proofreading stuff-Yoraciel (I think that's you-I didn't keep the SHS PM, and I have a terrible memory for names) has been going over things with a fine-toothed comb, and it's a tremendous help, even if it means more work. :)

I don't bounce at all, Solar.

Anyway, awesome work Tempest, and I really, really look forward to have my flirtatious PC bother this lovely avariel.

This is as good a place to post this as any. I'd forgotten Aerie has romantic designs on Darian until I proofread the Darian-Aerie dialogues, and I suddenly got a very weird image in my head:

Charname: He's mine!

Aerie: No, he's mine!

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Darian: Ah, excuse me, ladies...

Charname and Aerie: YOU STAY OUT OF THIS!!!

Darian: *Cringe*

Charname and Aerie: *Deep breath*

Charname: MINE!

Aerie: MINE!

Mazzy (to Darian): So, my love, did you tell them about our wedding plans?

Darian: If I do tell them, take the five seconds or so it will take them to process the announcement to get a head start in running for your life.
"Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself perfectly CLEAR?!" -Charname, Baldur's Gate 1

 Ah yes, poor Darian. But remember that Aerie never stands a chance with him, and Darian will only pursue Mazzy if his potential romance with Charname is dead (this is purely for the player's convenience and mine-I really don't want to have to code romance conflicts between Charname and Mazzy).

Just because Aerie doesn't stand a chance with him, that doesn't mean she doesn't think she does. ;3

Gah. Potential soap-opera comedy with Darian, Charname, Aerie, Mazzy, and by extension Haer'Dalis, Anomen, and Korgan... what on earth was I thinking?

Just wait until you're going to mess with Crossmod content... Think of all the NPC's bickering with Darian over the PC!

*That* actually doesn't concern me a whole lot. Darian isn't intentionally pursuing Charname so when Anomen mentions that he can see the way Darian looks at Charname, Darian's response isn't so much as "Hands off, helmet head-she's mine" as it is "WTF are you talking about?". And for the record, Darian does not interfere in Anomen's lovetalks and I doubt he would interfere with Kelsey's or Xan's-he may certainly be keeping an eye on Charname, but he considers directly interfering with her personal life to be rude and unbecoming of a Talon. This is why when I write his reactions to Romantic Encounters, for instance, he will not say a word about Charname's affairs or attempt to stop her until the third time she disappears with a man-her personal life is hers. And even when he does react, he's just deeply concerned that Charname might just be using him for a fling as well, and he will terminate the relationship if he believes that to be the case.

*nods* True. That doesn't mean other mod NPC's won't interfere with Darian's lovetalks, though, if it comes to that. Ah well, it's not topical for a while yet, if I've gotten things right.

Is the reaction to RE going to be an optional component?

You have it correct. I have signed up as being interested in the Crossmod Banter Project, but I don't forsee actually getting in touch with anyone to write crossmod content until at least alpha testing, maybe beta testing. Darian *does* have romance-killing scripting already for most of the mods out there, but actual interaction will have to wait a while.

Is the reaction to RE going to be an optional component?

Probably not, though I may if I see enough interest in doing so. Darian gives Charname a great deal of leeway when it comes to her disappearing with other men, and it will take a total of four disappearances (not necessarily actual affairs) to kill the romance. Darian's is a very forgiving romance-it takes a pretty serious offense to make him turn away from the player, but don't abuse his patience. :)

It's getting there. But I spent most of yesterday a-writing, so no progress done then.

You write on your story and we say more more! So you do more, and what do we do. Erm, Temp, what about this.

:D

Jk. Looking forward to whatever it is you're working on now, as I'm sure everyone else is. (Well maybe not everyone, but you know what I mean.

This week is full of exams, and my spare time will be more writing, in all likelihood-chapter 2 of The Agathion Incident and chapter 20 of At Soul's Edge. The difference being I can write anytime during the day, while working on Darian has to wait until I'm actually in my dorm and not doing homework, studying, and so on. I will try to find the time this weekend to apply a boot firmly to Darian's pasty rear end and get him out the door for alpha. :)
