And, I'd say most thought Bethesda had basically lost its touch. (I know I certainly did..)
Well, after playing Shivering Isles, I can honestly tell you, they haven't. It was brilliant, and I loved every second of it. =) The landscape is well thought out.. The npcs aren't generic, they have personality! Shivering Isles, imo, is brilliant, I'd recommend it to anyone.

EDIT: Well, at least it suits the isles, I dare say
EDIT2: Also, its not so much a prison, as a dungeon. =) *shrugs*

I haven't played it myself, but I heard a rumor that if you get caught doing something illegal and are sent to prison in the expansion, all of your crimes will be forgiven if you manage to escape out of it. Is that not the best idea ever?
Actually you will be sent to some nasty dungeon, and if you get out alive everything's forgiven. I haven't tried it either. Yet. Gray Fox alter ego does have some bounty on him, though, so maybe I should try, just for the heck of it.
EDIT: Oh and now I see Kaelis already said it was a dungeon, but what ever.

"Malacath is more popular at parties than Jyggalag. And Malacath is NOT popular at parties."- Sheogorath
Sheogorath was hilarious! The npc's were all so much more interesting than in oblivion.

I played around in Oblivion with 16 different characters and none of them has finished the mainquest. I lost interest because you are (more or less) "forced" to play it - you know, the popping gates...
But when I played Shivering Isles I just couldn't stop!
First I played with my Moonelf Nightbird - and she made the "Mania-Way". And she made it to the end!
Now I started the second go with my Redguard Usambara, she's on her way through Dementia...

Edit: On second thought, I'm going to start a new mage first. Because I'm going to use Sheogorath's beard model!! Mwhhaha... expect nifty screenshots when I get there.

I actually talked to the guy who voiced Sheogorath (Wes Johnson) over PMs at the elder scrolls forums, he's a very nice person. Known as "Turducken" there

It's more mature themed IMO than Vanilla Oblivion, and I'm not talking 'R' rated sex, drugs, and rock, and roll kind or anything but the idea of the inner struggle of personality within us all.
Very well done.
