Hi,

while doing Daerthmac's citadel quest, I found some basiliscs outside the clone of Durlag's tower (on the roof, let's say). So I dranka potion of mirrored eyes but it killed me immediately with its gaze. Should this happen?

I eventually went at it again with a protection from petrification spell and the Paladin ring that gives some protection againts it and it went ok.

No.

Unless the potion wore off.

One of these days, I'm going to have to look at the thread title before hitting "reply." All of my experience with said potion is in either vanilla BG, Tutu, or BG2, although I don't remember ever seeing a basilisk in BG2.

I encounter the same thing.

I believe it's a bug. With a BG clean install, I never have this problem before.

Same problem here. The potion doesn't work as proscribed. You have to use the wizard spell to be protected from petrification.

It takes a village...

Then it would be a BGT problem or problem with that potion in the BG2 engine (where I think the problem is). The potion is from the game. It is not something that I created as part of DSotSC. It may be that either the potion is broken or the gaze effect in BG2 uses a different spell than what the potion is expecting to block (there are about 4 ways to "hold" a creature in BG2, and all 4 have to be checked when making an immunity to it).

I didn't have such a problem in my game ... what's your weidu log? May be a newer version of BGT or fixpack changed it ...

I'm not sure about my weidu.log. Do you want me to post it here, is that so?
Also, I've tried using such a potion in a different situation and it did give me protection for some time: at least, I had an icon over my portrait that later disappeared, so I don't know :-\
