Being in a class does make a wonderful excuse to not have to respond (silly law requires a certain number of summer credit hours at an official university here... go figure), but I'm afraid I do have to watch this thread when I'm not in class, on the off chance someone contributes something useful. <_<

Much to your disappointment, Darian is *not* the only thing going on in my life, but I do want to get him finished before the summer semester is over. My current problem, as I've mentioned in other threads, is working out the basic structure and pacing of his romance with Mazzy. Luckily, her romance is a bit shorter than Darian's romance with the player, so once I get the basic structure down, I should move fairly briskly.

I support Tempest making a mod of himself. We need more chaotic evil psionicists in the world! Or maybe a wild mage. Or maybe he can finish Darian. I like that last option. :)

Why, Tempest! Are you hinting at something...?

Aawww, we know that. I think you are overreacting. We will wait for as long as it will be necessary. No reason why we shouldn't have some fun in the meantime, though. Here, take a cookie. Smile!

That was... a very unusual compliment, lol.

:shifty:

Nah. Have fun, especially at Darian's expense.

Darian: I heard that.

If you consider that unusual, you clearly haven't been hanging around SHS for too long...

You would be surprised but we all have our RL's :))) And take your time with Darian - there are so many mods and games that I absolutely don't know which one I should play first!
Heck no, b - I used the word the way I use things like "twitter", and "iPod" - my first inclination is to ask "what birdcall are you studying?" and I think of "I pod, You (singular) pod, He pods, She pods, They pod, You (plural) pod, We pod..."

I didn't say it was unusual as a habit, just as a compliment... Though if you get complimented on a daily basis for your evil, manipulative ways, wild behaviour and general insanity, and are glad of it, that is ok. Just remind me to never, ever go out with you...

Hm, on the other hand... :>

I haven't been hanging around SHS for too long... But I doubt you have either, seeing your 'join date'... :whistling:

Oh Tempest, just imagine how much more excrutiangly tormenting life could be for Darian if you actually DO voice him? It opens whole new levels of life experience if you enrich him with another sensory influx ;)
But really, you might try something like putting up a voicing challenge- select a few lines, put them in a new topic, let anybody give it a try and record it, and voila - there might be something interesting there, no?

I'm resurrecting this thread to ask a question: since I'm already planning a choice of archer and ranger/cleric versions of Darian, would there be any interest in me rounding out the choices with options to install Darian as a plain ranger, stalker, or beast master as well? That last one is about the only one I have some trouble imagining, but I thought I may as well give all the ranger options.

It'd be nifty, and really people who are determined to have him as something else will do it anyway.

But if you don't picture him as something well, don't do it.

EDIT: You could do it anyway to please the masses, but to try to please everyone is too exhausting anyway. Do what you wish, Tempest.

I would have cleric/ranger and pure ranger available - I'd love a cleric/ranger in my party, I absolutely adore that class combination. Other than that, perhaps give Nythrun permission to include Darian in the Level 1 NPCs mod over at G3? :)

Darian's default class in installation is still going to be the archer-I'll keep his alternate classes in an optional component. I think I'll go ahead and include a stalker and non-kitted ranger variant, but leave out the beast master-it's the only ranger variation I can't really see fitting Darian. I get a feeling most people will install and use him as a ranger/cleric (and heck, even I might-it's a very good multiclass, and Darian's got the requisite wisdom to be good at it), but the archer will always be the way I envision him.

I agree you should do as you wish, Tempest. I will play him as what you make him. Personally I think an archer is cool but however you see him is how I"ll play him. Er...play WITH him, that is! :D

Notice that I am doing what I want. This is one of those cases where the "why" has very little power behind it, and the "why not" even less. :)

I'm all for this. :) I like stealth-heavy parties, and the stalker option will fit right in with my preferred playing style. And as always, more options = good. :)

This is an update of sorts: now that I've finished coding them, I can say about how many different player-initiated flirts there are. At present, there are only seven or eight different flirts, with between two and eight possible responses to each, and for some of them, Darian's reactions will differ depending on what stage the romance is at.

I know this is a bit small, but writing flirts, especially player-initiated is very difficult and altogether awkward for me, but after Darian moves into alpha testing, I may add more at players' suggestion. I'm one of those folks who virtually never does any player-initiated flirts in romance mods, so this wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do.

Hi,
I found this mod project today, and I have to say I love it.

I had been wondering for a while now why most of the female romanceable mods were wizards or sorcerers. Maybe it's Anomen's fault for being an arrogant knight, but I've always thought a strong macho was needed! heh

After reading much of this I'm really eager to play again. So keep up the good work!

If you're looking for a macho man, Darian is not your man. If you're looking for a man who hovers (quite possibly literally) in the back and unleashes a murderous hail of crossbow bolts the instant someone looks at you funny, that's the kind of man Darian is. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, and Darian's alpha testing will begin as soon as I can get a last couple of bugs ironed out, which should be sometime in the next couple of days, depending on how busy I am in real life.
