I'm afraid that for the bathing-style flirt, you may not see that kind of option even in ToB. While Darian would be willing to do such a thing with Charname at that point (he may be very uptight, but he's still a man), I would have a very difficult time writing it.

Any types of flirts are welcome and the idea of a more 'intellectual' (as you put it) romance is intriguing. If you do not believe, in yourself, however that Darian would not do 'x' then do not write 'x', if you get my meaning - I think you've cottoned on to the fact that it would be a character breaker. Also such flirts as 'bathe' can head into more 'R' rated territory and if that is not what you want then...

So stick to your guns! However, if you won't put something in simply because you do not feel you do not have the um...cannot write it yourself...then do not be shy to ask someone else for help.

Perhaps it is not place to say that though (since I cannot offer my own help and I would be speaking for others) and I understand that as Darian is your NPC that you might want complete control of everything, but their is no harm in asking someone to make you a skeleton of a dialogue for a flirt you cannot write and then saying 'yea' or 'nay' or 'Darian would not do that, oh but he might just do this!' and voila! you have created a flirt within his character even if it was one you found you could not write yourself. Um...I'm sure you know this and stuff, I'm just trying to be helpful without sticking my foot in the wrong place

On a second note...not sure if this has come up and been sorted, but what voice set/who's voice set are you using for Darian? Your own? A bioware one? Someone else? Just out of curiosity.

I actually might have to settle for asking someone else to do a more... mature flirt pack once I release Darian for SoA testing. I'm simply keeping the physical/sexual side of the romance very low-key, since I'm uncomfortable writing that kind of material (I'm a terminally shy computer geek in real life, and I suppose it shows :)).

Darian does not currently have voicing. I have his voice set written up (i.e. his "selected" comments, battlecries, and so on and so forth... thinking about posting those as a preview at some point), but I will not be voicing Darian. Aside from me being very uncomfortable doing it, my voice just doesn't fit him. I might be able to talk a friend into doing the voicing at some point, but unless I make an announcement to the contrary, Darian will not have voicing, I'm afraid. I'll leave it to your imagination what he sounds like.

Very, very good guess, but wrong. Darian's father was almost going to be Darian's wraith, and back when I still had big differences in mind for Darian's romance depending on whether Charname was a human/half-elf or elf (there are still some differences in lovetalks, but nothing major), Darian's father would have shown up if Charname was a human or half-elf. As it is, the person who's scheduled to show up at the temple of Bhaal in ToB is someone I've carefully avoided mentioning anything about. You'll learn about him/her/it during the romance.

Tee hee! Glad you're holding something in reserve for us!

Darian doesn't exactly pursue Mazzy, but he isn't trying to avoid her, either. By contrast, the Avariel use the same word for "human" and "enemy", and the same word for "elf" and "one not to be trusted". I know it seems unfair to Charname, but he can and will fall for Mazzy far more readily than for Charname. Of course, once Darian *does* fall for Charname, he falls rather hard...

Ouch about the Avariel using the same word for human and enemy. I guess you weren't kidding about the winged elves having problems with humans. A person sworn to defend a culture with that particular prejudice... no wonder he's slow to fall for a human player. I think I'm with Ankhes, though-my first time through, Darian is MINE. Mazzy can have him, but only after I'm done.

I'm afraid that for the bathing-style flirt, you may not see that kind of option even in ToB. While Darian would be willing to do such a thing with Charname at that point (he may be very uptight, but he's still a man), I would have a very difficult time writing it. For purposes of even his SoA flirts, he thinks of you as "Charname" first, a woman second (or more properly, in the early stages of the romance, he think of you as a human/elf/whatever first, and as a person second). Darian's is a more intellectual romance-you're going to be shaking the foundations of his world and making him question almost everything he believes in. This is difficult to get across in his lovetalks, since he is such a private person, but it's an interesting and enjoyable challenge.

Hence your Perspectives stories, letting us get inside Darian's head, I suppose. As much as I like some  in a romance, I suppose Darian will be a nice change of pace. He's different enough from the other romantic options for a female Bhaalspawn as it is, and you just make him sound more and more interesting. I suppose it would be a bit harsh of me to demand Darian as a birthday present (16 days!), but a girl can dream, can't she?

When he joins the party, Darian is still expecting to live out a fairly normal life for an Avariel warrior. All his epilogues are already written up, and I'll just say that a normal life simply isn't in the cards...

Bah. Normal is boring. :D

I actually might have to settle for asking someone else to do a more... mature flirt pack once I release Darian for SoA testing. I'm simply keeping the physical/sexual side of the romance very low-key, since I'm uncomfortable writing that kind of material (I'm a terminally shy computer geek in real life, and I suppose it shows ).

If you need an R-rated flirt pack, I'd be happy to work on it...

Solstice, I'm definitely hoping to have finished writing Darian within 16 days-his romance with Mazzy is the last major portion of writing. Unfortunately, coding, taking care of odds and ends, writing minor banters I never got around to, interjections, and so on and so forth are yet to be done. I kinda wish I could just foist all the coding off on someone else, but his banters and lovetalks are already done, and I *hope* there's not much else to learn.

And that is exactly why I am going to play this. Good work so far, Tempest:)

Aaawww, don't be like that:) If you don't feel comfortable with something as natural as flirting, you should fight you shyness^^ However I won't push you - it is you personal matter. But I would suggest actually collecting a team to write Darian's flirt, even now, while you are writing his romance with Mazzy. That way you could have it done at once, and still had time to appove/dissaprove of the said flirst before the release^^'. That is, if you want that done. I actually wouldn't view it as a fault if Darian would lack more 'mature' flirts, as you say.

But I want to tickle Darian's wings^^' And dye his hair green when he falls to sleep^^'

Heh.... just think about translators, yes? While we were translating some lines from Tsujatha, I was unable to hold back constant blushing and giggling, while parents were wondering what is so funny on the text before me  As much as I adore Tsujatha's romance, translating the mature rated parts was hell :-/ (although some sequel with this type of content wouldn't be bad  )

<offtopic> Yeah, some of his jokes and word-plays are VERY hard to translate. Actually I am not sure if some of them are translatable at all XD

You had green hair? Respect;] I would never dye my hair... Nor black, green, pink or any other colour. I just like it to much the way it is.

And what do all people have with all that blushing and gigling? I don't remember doing it ever in my life... but then, I am strange XD</offtopic>

And I would rather have this mod completed BEFORE September... Sorry, Neferit XD I am quite sure that the rest of this forum's guests will second that ^^'

It'll get done when it gets done. :) Would I be correct in assuming folks would rather I make Darian as complete as possible before testing, rather than unleashing an endless series of new versions?

And on a side note: you won't have much luck with your scheme, Alatariel. Elves don't sleep, remember.

Well, he could somehow come face to face with an...'accident' , die, then we could dye his hair green and then ressurect him...unless of course ressurection causes everything to restore itself, including hair. <_<

Yeah, some of his jokes and word-plays are VERY hard to translate. Actually I am not sure if some of them are translatable at all XD

I know I'm really horrible person but afret two hours of trying to translate some of the R rated lines I just gave up and sent it to my collegue in translator's team

You had green hair? Respect;] I would never dye my hair... Nor black, green, pink or any other colour. I just like it to much the way it is.

I've done it because I needed to try how the green will look on me and then I need it to as part of my costume. I really liked it :)

And what do all people have with all that blushing and gigling? I don't remember doing it ever in my life... but then, I am strange XD

Well, I don't do it normally. I don't have problems with reading text which makes some people embarrased. I have problems to *write* these texts (and while you are translating them, you write them anew, don't you?)

Darian: Please... kill me now.

Tempest: It is true that in some countries, what is going to happen to you could be construed as cruel and unusual punishment... full speed ahead!

Darian: You're really not that funny when you do that.

Tempest: I'm aware of that.

Darian: Then why do you do it?

Tempest: Do I really need to justify myself to a figment of my imagination?

Darian: Yes.

Tempest: Fine. Because I'm bored while scanning through different songs, looking for the music theme for you and Mazzy.

Darian: You can't be serious.

Tempest: Would it change anything if I wasn't?

Darian: No, I don't suppose so.

Tempest: Good. Now get back in your cage and let me continue browsing for your music theme... something from "Powerpuff Girls", maybe...

Darian: I repeat my original request.

I'm afraid that if it continues for eight more pages or so, you'll be asked to develop a Tempest mod. :)

I hope you'll reconsider about voicing, though. Especially if your voice is less like Keldorn, Gavin, Xan, Sarevok, and more like Edwin, Kelsey, Anomen, Saemon(same actor as Xan, but never mind) - i.e. a higher tone. Not only does voicing makes a difference, and not only do voice actors tend to disappear/be hard to find/have a life/be otherwise occupied and unreliable(so your self is the best bet) - it would also be a very pleasant change.

So do I! Tempest is amusing whether poor Darian likes it or not. I know that supposedly elves never sleep but only reverie. Riiiiight. That is just sooo different. Okay okay I'm sure I'll be "corrected" here on this but I still don't see the big bloody diffrerence really.
But I too can think of a few cute little things to do to Darian in his "reverie." Aw but he may acutally like it! I promise I won't wax his eyebrows!

Sigh yes I know he'll be done when he's done and we do want a good product but I myself don't mind a few new versions much when I am so looking forward to this lovely Avariel.

To the poster whose name I forget for the moment who was translating Tsujatha I think I know one of the flirts you would giggle and blush at writing. Did it occur with one of the "flash Tsujatha with your breasts" ones??? And he used his...magic? You don't really have to answer but that one had me in stitches when I came across it actually in game.

...that's right, although you might want to lower your voice a little bit. Or Tempest may be somewhat angry, when all of those Random Fans will take your advice to heart and go torment *him* in more... personal ways :whistling:
