Need some help with this, completely stuck, have tried everything i know, just can't beat him. No matter how high my resistance or saves that big comet attack just kills me instantly, how did any of you manage it? Tried the cheese thing but just leaves me stuck in his cell.

try to protect yourself sphere of invulnerable or some druid resistence (regenerate yourself etc.) . if you managed the first attac try to hide, dont attac him. let him cast his spells on creatures etc. => he is an wild mage perhaps he hurts hisself .

The only way I was ever able to beat him on 2.0/2.2 was to move all my characters to the far ends of the prison. If they aren't close enough he wont cast spells on them. Once his Oblivion shield goes down you can run someone in who has the highest hp's and wail on him a bit. When he recasts shield or those giant meteors you just run away. It takes forever. And is boring. A good portion of it is just luck as to whether or not a meteor kills you. Make sure (obviously) that you cast all the protection spells you have before entering the prison. The meteors aren't totally fire based (if I remember correctly they are 1/2 physical damage) but protection from fire can help. The other thing that is very useful is Spell Immunity:Invocation for your mages and Globe of Invul for those irritating magic missiles and fireballs that he spams. Basically expect to spend quite a bit of time reloading. Stupid, but that's the way it works. Hopefully, as of 2.6 the final battle wont be quite that idiotic.Need some help with this, completely stuck, have tried everything i know, just can't beat him. There is a second problem in that he changes AI scripts at least 5 times and until he gets to the last one he wont die, so expect to spend quite a bit of time waiting around.

Hi folks,
I'm currently in the final battle and reloaded it several times. I've gotten "Melanthium" beaten down to near death in the final battle in the prison. But after hitting him with everything I can for over a 45 minute period he won't die. I can just get him down to "Near Death" I've tried every thing including reloading and cleaning out my temp files but this is the closest I can get him to dying.
Now I'm about ready to give up and un install the mod if he can't be killed. I guess I'll copy the saved file over to another directory and start another game till I get a reply. Currently I am running 2.2 of the mod. I see that there is a 2[1].2 version but from what I can tell they are both the same size. If I re-install the 2[1].2 version over the current one will it screw things up?

Have you set the difficulty slider to easiest? I sometimes forgot that when taking on the big M. Not a nice thing to happen to my party
