incantation question/problem

i did a complete bg2tob install patched with v26498 on a win xp sp3 system. there are no mods added yet.
there was a problem with spell incantations - they were not audible. i searched for solutions and found that turning off the environmental audio or the directx sound acceleration helps.
it worked and now the spells that should have incantations do, but not quite as i remember it. when i played before i think that the complete incantation was spoken even if the spell casting time was lower; now it stops as soon as the spell is cast. also, in the mage conjuration incantation which should be "Facio, Voco, Ferre" the first word is muted and it begins with Voco. i haven't made a complete check on the spells so there may be other issues too.
do you have an idea of what is wrong and how it can be fixed? it would be nice to have the incantations work normally as it is a bit irritating now.
thanks

Hmm... if you mean that for spells with low casting time, the incantation voice stops as soon as the spell is fired, this is normal behavior I think. The only case when the spell is fired but you are still casting it is when you wear an item that lowers casting time.when i played before i think that the complete incantation was spoken even if the spell casting time was lower; now it stops as soon as the spell is cast. also, in the mage conjuration incantation which should be "Facio, Voco, Ferre" the first word is muted and it begins with Voco. i haven't made a complete check on the spells so there may be other issues too.

Are you sure of this? I feel almost certain that spells were always fully spoken even without items that lower the casting speed. But it was a while ago, and my memory may be faulty.
Even if it is indeed this way, there is still a problem with the conjuration spells, but maybe it is a good idea to also ask on the Bioware support forum.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard
