Then you'll be moving Secret of Bone Hill, TDD, Check the Bodies, and Northern Tales over there too, yes?

I made the same point, but Liam wanted to put the mods related to BP/BGT in a category of each own, as the whole bunch of mods get a lot of attention. He wanted (and wisely so, I think) to make it easier for players to find BP and BGT and the mods most commonly used together with them.

Moving RoT to the BP section might be an idea, though.

Additionally, I seem to have some difficulty staying logged in, despite having cleared my cache and stuff. In particular it doesn't seem to stay logged in on more than one computer at a time. That might be intentional, but since I use the forum from both home and work it's a bit inconvenient.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

Possibly from an outdated point of view, I have never included anything outside of BGT, TDD, SoS, and TS in the obsolete naming of BP+BGT. That's right, NeJ, CtB and RoT have no place inside that definition. I have been referring to "BP+BGT" as "mega-modification". You will notice that all articles I've written in the BGT-WeiDU package and the forums refer to this terminology.

Corresponding to that, I've always wanted the BP+BGT forum name to change to something more like "mega-modification", and reserving the seperate TDD and SoS forums to dealth with installs using only a single mod (although I do know how hard it is to distinguish which bugs go where a lot of the time). I've also always suggested that any time someone needs help with BGT+<any mod of the mega-mod), they should post in the "mega-modification" forum.

Overall, I wouldn't mind changing the definition of mega-modification to include "any combination of two or more of BGT, TDD, SoS, TS, NeJ, CtB, and RoT", and moving the appropriate forums into the "BP+BGT section" of the forums. I still would like to see a change in the name of the forum and its subforum to something similar to "Mega-modification". In this case, I reckon SoBH, DSotSC, and NTotSC would end up being a subforum of BGT-WeiDU, since I don't consider BGT+DSotSC+NTotSC+SoBH to be a mega-modification.

Drastic, I know, but open to opinion.

On to something else, Firefox in Mac seems to display the menu wrong, even after clearing Cookies and Caches and such. The help, search, members, calendar, and statistics buttons are shifted down into the area where the user options are (such as controls, new posts, assistant, friends, messages). As a result, view new posts is wrapped to be underneath my controls, and assistant, friends, and message are shifted down into the main frame.

Odd - I'll look into it for you. In the meantime, if you can, I would suggest using IE or FF, if you would like to use those features. :)

It's not working with Firefox 2.0 either. I don't really care that much, though.

If entering a birthday is required to update the profile then please fix that...

As Ascension64 goes, so goes my nation.

I agree with all his points, I (will and already do) practice them wholeheartedly, and I second his proposal.

Very good points indeed, Asc :) I'll see what I can do for you - I'll send you a PM including the details of exactly what would be happening before doing it, in case you have any suggestions. Will either get that done tomorrow or the next day - I'll try to make some time for it soon!

Kinda creepy that I now can't view any user profiles without the user being aware of it. Big Brother is watching us all, it seems.

Unfortunately, I have to keep entering my login and password - the system doesn't seem to remember me. Internet Explorer here.

Also, can the functions "friends" and "comments" be disabled entirely? Logically, "Enabled - only add when I approve them" should do the trick, but the word "enabled" is rather confusing.

I cleared the cookies and everything else that I possible could in Firefox and it wont keep me logged in either. If I close the browser and reopen it then I have to login, before I didnt have to.

Other users have reported this problem - are you certain you're ticking 'Login Automatically'? That's fixed it for pretty much everyone that I know of, I think.

The lovely feature "Delete cookies set by this board" at the very bottom doesn't seem to work, either: "You do not have permission..."

You don't have to throw rocks at us because you can't stay logged in; the board is only trying to protect all of you from someone other than you using your accounts.

A few settings has been switched to a "lower security", which hopefully will allow you to stay logged in. Please let us know if this helps or not.

Throwing rocks? I thought feedback was a sign of users actually wanting to use the forum, rather than a weight-lifting activity. In any case, I'd be most appreciative when it is fixed, and since feedback from me personally doesn't seem to be welcome for whatever reason, I cease and desist.

I wasnt throwing rocks at you. I realize that alot of work went into the upgrade (i know how that sorta stuff goes) and I am really happy that you and others put in so much time for it. I was just trying to find out what had changed from the way it worked before, if its intentional then thats fine I just have to login each time.

Feedback is one thing - it's helpful in the sense of letting us know there is a problem and assisting us in identifying it. I love feedback and wish more people would give it.

Once we do know there's a problem, however, there's really not any point to continue to whine about the subject. A "it doesn't work for me, too, and I'm using <browser>" from different users is helpful - because it gives a more comprehensive overview of the issue, and informs us that it's not isolated to one user/browser/whatever. Posting again just telling how annoying it is and how many times you've tried isn't helpful - it doesn't give us any kind of information we didn't know before and it doesn't give us any further assistance in locating the issue.

Again, is there any change now compared to before?

Would throwing my calculus book instead be an improvement? :) (Hint: No.) ;/

Seriously though. Is there any way for individual users to control the security of their accounts? I can state conclusively that there is absolutely no chance anyone but me will find themselves using my account on either my laptop or home desktop, and the odds that it will occur on the CAD machine at work are infinitesimal. Other people might have more to worry about. If this feature isn't available, I'm guessing adding it would be fairly gruelling, so I won't push for it, but it would be convenient and logical.

A few settings has been switched to a "lower security", which hopefully will allow you to stay logged in. Please let us know if this helps or not.

I haven't noticed myself being logged while using the same machine, but whatever's been changed doesn't seem to have fixed the issue with finding myself automatically logged off from every other machine whenever I log in on one. I assume the board software is tying the login to a specific IP, which is a new feature; how easy would it be to toggle that?

Also, if there's any way to get it to highlight mismatched opening and closing tags in a preview rather than just bringing up a vague error message, I'm sure that would be appreciated. Took me a couple of minutes to find the typo in the above. x.x A clear "resubmit" button on the error message screen associated with mismatched BB tags, at the very least, would be helpful; if there's supposed to be one it's not displaying properly.

PS: Just noticed the "Carbon Copy" feature in the PM screen. I've been wishing for a while for a way (that I knew of) to address a PM to multiple recipients, so this was very welcome. :new_thumbs:

I'd knock wood, just in case, but it indeed seems to be working now. My thanks - and I'll pretend I didn't read your last post.
