Don't forget to check out the Staff Overhaul as well!

As you must have noticed, myriad changes which have now come into effect over the forums! The forum software has been updated (along with some wonderful additions from SConrad and khayman, such as the vertically aligned subforums), and the vast majority of forums have been rearranged. I hope you enjoy the improved layout of the forums, and if it causes you any inconvenience then I sincerely apologise!

It always takes a while to get settled in after an overhaul, and I expect there to be a few grumbles and problems, but having used the new software and forum layout for just a day I have to say I’m very quickly getting used to it, and far prefer it over the previous layout. I hope you all find it similarly beneficial.

To All Firefox Users: Please empty your cache, or the forums will not display correctly, and some features will be unavailable! Thank you.

There are also quite a few New Features™!

Firstly, there is now a 'Statistics' button on the top right of the forums – numerous statistics are displayed, some which may even be of interest to you! Nay, I'm sure they will, for they are blessed by Torm.

The Staff Page has also been updated – it is much prettier and interesting, and well worth a quick look!

Profiles have been *vastly* updated with the new version of IPB, with new features that I fully suggest you make use of. You can now add other members as friends, comment on people’s profiles, and check out others' posts and topics far more easily, so take a look when you get the chance. I would also suggest you update your profile to include your gender.

Vertically Aligned Subforums are a new, original addition by SConrad, which – most surprisingly, I thought – displays Subforums vertically. Now, what this means is descriptions are now significantly shorter, in some cases. Mod Authors, if you feel that the description on your forum isn't adequate, please send me a PM with an alternative which is 60 letters or less. Thanks!

The forums have all been rearranged, especially the Mod forums, which are now categorised according to content. Mod Authors, if you feel that your mod’s forum is inappropriately placed, please contact me and I will resolve the situation immediately. One particular forum to note which has changed is the

I hope these new and changed features are useful and helpful whilst you browse SHS – and if you have any suggestions, please post them!

Lastly... I think that theacefes and especially SConrad deserve an *enormous* amount of praise for spending over 10 hours with me today updating, changing, adding and moving around the forums. You're both champions, and deserve WAREHOUSES of cookies.

Comments are welcome, so long as they aren't flames. Thanks all!

Good work, but I have the feeling it is a brand new place now instead of the good old SHS, even the new reply window is disconterting (where is the smileys list ?). ^^

But I have one question : I have used to bookmark "Completed IE mods", a forum that does not exist anymore. Now, there are two forums "Infinity Engine Mods". Why ? I would have bookmarked it if those were merged.

There are two separate forums so that, if you wish, you can close one of them and only view the other using the 'Minimise Category' feature. Of course, if there is sufficient demand I am happy to combine them, I just felt it would be more convenient to be able to view one group of mods and not the others, which you perhaps don't play. :)

The smilie menu should be toggleable - try clicking 'Toggle Side Panel' to add it back. :)

Sadly, I have already tried the Toggle Side Panel, but it does nothing. :(

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.2 under WinXP, the Standard Editor is selected in my account, and I have tried to empty my cache two times.

JavaScript error. Fixed and solved and at 6.45 AM, I am going to bed.

Been trying to figure out how to select my gender in my profile, but I seem to be having trouble with that.

I realize this is a really petty little thing, but I'm a female with a male avatar and a gender-neutral nickname. I certainly don't care which pronoun people use, but might ease a bit of confusion.

I think I'm having trouble with the javascript as well. I'm on firefox v2, same as BGhead. Reply editor, I'm missing the usual toolbar. Toolbar show up for 'fast reply'. In 'edit', the quick edit option is gone as well. Should I re-empty my cache again?

You set your gender by actually viewing your profile by clicking on your name. THere you get a whole new menu.
Kind of odd its not in the control panel, but that's how to do it at the moment.

Good work on reworking structure, although I liked the "completed IE mods" vs "in progress IE mods" better

No..I tried that 3 times already and it does not work. The add friends thing doesn't seem to work either.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOOHOO! What a Ride!

I now have this toolbar, and quick edit works for me.

I'm liking everything so far! 5* Kae!

Anyways, while browsing around profiles to see the fantastic changes I noticed "Member's Display Name History" which, when clicked upon, brings up (Using mine for simplicity)

Display Name History For: Kael Expand
From To Change Date
-- Kael 4th July 2005 - 06:35 PM

Does that mean it's possible to change names, cause with changing avvys and names, I sense all sorts of confusion. Afterall for a while I've been considering renaming my profile after my rp character of the forum (his Human name (Kellen), not Elven(Kael)). I couldn't find any option and so was content to go as Kael still. But with this, not to be overly confusing, but it could be nice.

Anyways I'd be content to stay as Kael if desired. Yeah, long post, little info, so uh, GREAT JOB!!!

EDIT: Just got to looking at the full reply stuff, and WOW! Very nice work guys!

I just want to make sure that our content on our profile page won't include our private workroom threads for everyone to view+is the Classic Skin gone? The two remaining themes are good but too busy to be using at work. (Maybe it's the big demon head)

After reading your post I checked a few profiles of people whose last post was in a protected forum and those posts don't seem to be showing up in their history.
Good stuff :)
