This is something that has plagued me for a few years now but only now did I actually get to this point again, as I am playing a rare evil party (well actually 2 self created characters).

I remember back when BG1 was out, that I pulled the plug at the mines without telling Rill to evacuate, leading to the mines beng flooded and everyone dying (besides the miner at the plug). I also remember it costing reputation and that for some reason this led to the bridge to Baldur's Gate never being let down, basically ending the game right there.

I am not sure though whether this was me missing something back then or whether you actually do have to tell Rill to evacuate.

If anyone knows for sure, please do let me know :)

In BGT you can flood the mines without saving the miners, and it will cost you 2 rep points. But it doesn't affect lowering the bridge in any way.

AFAIR, that's a known bug Veteran. I recall running into myself the first time I played BG with an evil party. So remember to have a backup-save ;)

Grunker, if you encountered this bug while playing one of the recent BGT versions I'd be very interested in hearing some details (to fix it).

How exactly do you replicate this bug in BG? We are looking into it for the BG1 Fixpack but can't reproduce it. Though the person testing it does not have TotSC, dunno if that makes a difference.

I have only encountered it once, with my first evil party, which was back in '00. I only remember it because I kept a handwritten log of BG stuff back then (such as where to find Driz'zt and where the specific quests were), because I didn't have internet. So I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help :(

Never encountered it and I've played both ways. Bridge did lower... I've got the official patch and the expansion

Still modding the Mod for the Wicked... It is a big project you know... And I got sidetracked (several times) a bit... sorry.

Didn't have any problems with this using BGT as above.
I asked the question because pre-patch (a few weeks after BG1 even got to stores) the evil path would break the game.

Hm... I reckon than that the patch is fixing it. Cause I played from the beginning with patch.

It actually worked properly for me without the patch (but I didn't have TotSC either).
