I have a question about the use of kits. For instance if I wanted to use the bladmaster kit from SP collection would I install it after or before refinements? I am pretty sure that it does not have its own HLA table.

My understanding was that if I installed it before refinements then they would get biowares standard fighter HLA and if I install after refinements it gets your HLA table for the vanilla fighter? Or does it not matter what order I place it.

Also there are some ranger kits with Divine Remix that seem interesting. Now I know that they don't have any new HLA's for these kits so if I install DR to get my cleric changes, then use the workaround so Refinements does not change the clerics HLA's and then install refinements and then install the ranger kits from DR like the Justifier for instance would I get the HLA's from refinements for it?

Thanks

If it doesn't have an HLA table of his own, then he'd get the Fighter one, no matter the order. However, I'd strongly recommend installing Refinements after SPC - it's quite likely that I have to tweak their tables, or something.

The workaround you talk about (involving editing a 2da and removing a couple of others) is only for Clerics. If you want to do this for Rangers, you'd have to do the guessable extension, I believe.

Ok I'll do SPC right after DR but before refinements. I was testing some of the DR kits last night and all their ranger kits picked up your HLA's (which is what I like) and the bowslinger kit picked up your archer kit instead of vanilla ranger (which I also liked)

What can be confusing is that some mods (song and silence) say install after refinements. The RPG kit also says install after refinements and thats I guess primarily to get the HLA's for their spellweaver kit or the wild jester. I tested the RPG kit installed like they said after refinements and they all worked with your HLA's which is good.

Sword and Fist is a newer mod with a monk remix and a few new fighter kits. Seems that they have HLA support but I was trying to find out where they should go install order wise. I asked over at G3 but no reply yet. Again I don't want them to over-ride your HLA's but if those kits have their own I would like them to be able to use them. I will need to do more testing on that mod to see what they get.

Another newer kit does not fare so well with Refinements regardless of install order. Its called Paladins of Faerun or something from the new Team BG. Some of their fighter kits were getting paladins HLAs (funny to see a soldier with holy aura lol) and some pallys got your fighter HLAs and others got biowares. So that one is "less compatible" then all the rest I have tested so far. I will do more testing on sword and fist tonight.

Sword and Fist & Song and Silence are made by the same people as DR, with similar techniques and similar goals, so anything that is said for DR also works for S&F and for S&S.

As for PoF, the behaviour you described would seem to indicate a PoF bug, rather than a Refs incompatibility (since similar things would happen also without Refs). But then, I may just be paranoid against people that are unable to speak a decent English.

Did some testing with Sword and Fist. Was the last mod installed before worldmap and GUI (mainly to fill some kit slots and 2nd to test if it would work ok after refinements)

Monk: Gets all the new class abilities and all of your HLA's. I killed everybody in candlekeep and had a blast at level 42 lol

Hexblade: Gets its own HLA's and none of yours. A mix of custom HLAs with the standard fighter table is what it is based around and you get to pick some high level mage spells as HLA's. Interesting

Fist of Order: Gets your fighter HLAs

Duelist: Gets your fighter HLA's

Blackguard: Gets the standard fighter table plus the one custom HLA that the class is given which is summon fallen deva.

So on the face of it, it looks like your refinements and sword and fist fit well together, especially the monk changes and your HLAs.

As for SP collection I put it before refinements as you said and the ones I installed (blademaster, ninja, and deathknight) are all using your HLAs

Song and Silence, which I installed after like it says to in their readme are also all using your HLAs for every kit.

Since I did the workaround the Clerics and Druids are all using DR's HLA table and so thats working out well too. The bowslinger picked up your archer HLA table and not standard ranger which is nice and the justifier and ferelan picked up refinements standard ranger table. So G3 has got their act together when it comes to kits for the most part :)

The pally that oversight installs holy liberator picks up your paladin HLA's as well. For now I'm staying far away from PoF kits, though I may add their druid kits since they were made to work with DR and with the workaround in effect....that might work.

so anyway thanks for a great mod! :)
