Agreed! There are those who will snivel, and offer nothing in return except criticism, meanwhile never lifting a finger to do other than to cut other peoples labor down simply for the fact that they lack the capability to put anything of their own together.

Horred, don't let the few bad apples spoil the whole barrel for you!!! Their are plenty more who are just interested in putting BP out in it's full intended glory!

In essence, he knows plenty about programming but NOTHING about D&D or game balance.
He never liked that kind of scrutiny!
Hmm...why wouldn't he like that insulting kind of scrutiny, I wonder...maybe cause he started throwing dice way back in 1979. Were you even born then?
Don't like it? Don't play it. Nobody twisted any arms, and/or forced any fingers on the downloads button.
You know---I actually came here to look into bug reports, and to try and help---for the first time in well over a year. Haven't even had BG2 installed for well over a year, cause I got so sick of snivelling, non-productive crap like this one, that I lost the desire to even play the game I once loved so much. Nice to see things haven't changed.
Think I'll stick with NWN modding, where people are mostly civil, and/or at least attempt to act like adults--even when reporting issues they experience, however dismal. Even when they don't like your ideas. Sorry I wasted 5 minutes even taking a look. Sorry I wasted years of my life, making myself miserable in trying to make people happy, that are incapable of such emotions. I'll be sure not to make that mistake again.
Now, I'm going to attempt to play my first game in many many months. Unless somebody wishes to spoil the fun of that, for me as well? If you try hard enough, I'm sure you can find a way.
P.S: Sorry to those that actually do care about this, and have helped out over the years--even those that offered constructive criticism. This was not intended with you in mind. You guys were great. Couldn't thank you enough for all the kind words and assistance. But you can thank ones like *points above*, and their ilk, for my departure from this scene. Things like that just break my heart--and heart was the only thing pushing me to perservere, for many of the latter years I was involved in this.

Horred ... i know u can't be serious ... just some words from an unknown guy cannot touch you.
U have (and WILL have) always respect by all of us, thanks to your hard (and great) work. Your departure from modding community was a big hit indeed ... and still the community suffers and miss you.
I really hope u're gonna having your BG game now ... enjoy it! And if ever u want to come back to BG community ... u know, u're MORE than welcome. (Honestly ... u're back would be needed, but i say it just in my mind ;-) )
Respect and hat for all your work,

I'm glad to see you, and wanted to thank you to traify your mod . I remember you did it in demand of SirLancelot and me.
We finally released the spanish and french translations few months ago. It was a great project we began with BPv161 no-WeiDU.
Thanks to you, french and spanish people can play to BP in their native language!

I looked into this. You don't have to avoid that component entirely. The problem is that the BG2 Fixpack and UB make the same fix, and UB at least does so via a somewhat imprecise REPLACE_TEXTUALLY statement. Meaning you end up with a duplicate fix and a script line that's too long and doesn't compile.Don't use the UB "Restored Minor Dialogs" component.
To fix it, just comment it out by putting a /* before COPY_EXISTING ~ar1303.bcs~ ~override~ at line 1125 in setup-ub.tp2 and a */ after COMPILE_BAF_TO_BCS at line 1131.

Yes, there's several others "gems" of Bereth, deep in this forum. I guess he made the unanimity when he posted here...

Mayhalp he remembers me to folks. Like I said I've been around. And for people who can't understand simple criticism, (why is it so much different compared to criticism given to game makers/creators), they were not personal attacks but rather....................................ready for it.............................
Simple Observations based on facts of unfinshed works and a major history of doing such. Don't blame me for pointing out the obvious! Am I Glad that Horred is back..Absolutley! I hope this means some work will/can get done.
I Irony is, people come to his rescue all the time and say things like, "he's working on other projects/mods for other games. He's a busy guy"! No Doubt, I don't disbelieve that at all, rather my beef is that he Rarely ever finishes anything, because of bordom or whatever the reason.
ie.. 10 late dates with a babe you wan't to have a relationship with does not make up for 1 on time super date time of your life.
Get it?
Getting mad at me.....is pointless and shows your a halfwit.
Saying you can't get mad at the guy who promisses but doesn't deliver on his dates (even if he is one a a few willing to so) is what I call....asskissing!
Horred hasn't done quite enough over the years in my eyes on finished products, but I tell you this; if he did finish BP finally, I think I'd be one of the first people in line to suck his c***!
Because I DO appreciate the effort, and this is my favorite game of ALL TIME!

Unpaid projects rarely have deadlines and I don't think anyone seriously expects modders who have lives outside of modding to meet such artificial time constraints even if they did exist.Saying you can't get mad at the guy who promisses but doesn't deliver on his dates (even if he is one a a few willing to so) is what I call....asskissing!
Now, I don't know all the history here, but if the modder promised something on a specific date, didn't deliver, and did this over and over, then yeah... that might be disappointing and frustrating. But to get angry at him? What a waste of energy.
Finally, I don't think horred is the original author or sole contributor to BP, though he may have been a major contributor. That means you can't really expect him to finish such a big project and fix everything by himself. You think something should be fixed and someone's not fixing it fast enough to your liking? Learn a little about modding and fix it yourself - it isn't that hard. Or at least learn enough to make constructive criticism rather than that which doesn't really help or encourage the modder.

Horred comes back after along time away and is put off by some posts by 1 person that seem to him to be negative (I think so also). Now the person sees the posts feels the need to add fuel to the fire!!!! It shows that he does have the best interests of the community at heart! If he did he would keep quiet or post an apology for anything that might cause offence.

Moreover is the implementation of mxsplwis hardcoded or could one simply create an corresponding 2da for wizard-bonuspells?

Not sure what BP intended here, but this is what the vanilla game has:Just an oversight or intentional that you get no new spellslots at level 24 as a wizard?
23 6 6 5 5 5 5 4 4 3 24 6 6 5 5 5 5 4 4 3 25 6 6 6 5 5 5 5 4 4
23 5 5 5 5 5 5 3 3 3 24 5 5 5 5 5 5 4 3 3 25 5 5 5 5 5 5 4 4 3And this is what 2e rules has (per DM Option: High-Level Campaigns):
23 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 3 2 24 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 4 2 25 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 2
Well since mxsplwis is a .2da (table), it's not hardcoded - you can patch or overwrite it if you want. Stuff in the .exe is considered hardcoded. Though I'm not sure what you mean by bonus spells. Wizard specialist "kits" get one extra spell each level (not sure if this is in a 2da or hardcoded). Moreover is the implementation of mxsplwis hardcoded or could one simply create an corresponding 2da for wizard-bonuspells?
