Anyway, I covet your portraits mightily. You have awesome portraits.
For the first one, I like the way you've captured the awkward hesitancy of someone who is blind trying to function in a sighted world. That, and great hair and lips. The blindfold is wonky, but if you substitute a piece of scrunched something-or-other for the leather, you're in business.
The second one... I can't stop looking at it. It looks like a flesh golem. Like he's had a chunk of his head replaced by the head of somebody else. But it's also a bizarre combination of the mundane (as much as anything with that jawline could be called mundane ) with the exotic.
Anyway, I'm rambling when I should be writing.
Nice work!

You're absolutely right.. taking this in mind, I went back into Photoshop and redid the blindfold - good thing I still had a version with all the layers seperate.
So - with updated blindfold-age.

I would love to see more of your work and to hear more of what her story is!

Very nice. I especially like the girl, since well she doesn't have stitches. But they are both amazingly well done, and look like they will fit in with the rest of the BG pics quite fine.

Iris: Though not her real name, Iris is what she's requested to be called upon meeting "Charname" in Athkatla. The meaning behind the request a grim reminder of her own foolishness. A Cleric of Savras, Iris is a serious follower of the All-Seeing god whose travels to fullfill her god-gifted vision and recover the guardian she was seperated from led her to Athkatla and the rising of the Cult of the Eyeless. Despairing and on the verge of loosing faith, she believed that accepting the gifts promised to her by the cult could help her achieve her goals and so she gouged her eyes out only to later realize her foolishness. After the Cult is put down by "Charname" she is once again taken under Savras' guidance and joins the group as an attempt once more to fullfill her quest and find her lost friend as well as aid "Charname" in their own perils.
Though her eyes were gouged out by her own doing, Savras has given her sight once more through one of her recovered eyes; kept as a grisly pendant and her only means to vision as a reminder of her own mortality, mistakes and a reminder to keep her faith.
Tyrone: A decades old being that was long ago created rather than born, Tyrone is aptly classified as a flesh golem due to the fact that his body is made up of the pieces and parts of many others and given life by long done magics and ceremony. Even so, he is not a normal golem and possesses his own free will, ideas and personality. Tyrone is not quite alive, but not quite dead and only feels whole when near Iris; being her self appointed protector for reasons as of yet unexplained. Strong, stubborn and often possessing a dire sort of personality, Tyrone is difficult to get along with and only Iris seems immune to his ill temperment.

I for one, like 'Tyrone' better as portrait, yet i have my doubts about his bio. But it's about the portraits here. So nice job!
How did you ever make these?

I agree with the above. You sure have some drawing skills

Well, like I said - I'm still hammering out the details on their bios, hehe.
As for the how; a good reference to go off of, countless hours of lookign through tutorials and a loooot of patience. I used Photoshop Elements, so not the top of the line stuff. But I've been doing digital art for about a decade. Granted, it's usually more cartoonish but I needed a change.

Photoshop Elements! You must indeed have a lot of patience, since I've never even dared to try actual airbrushing and paiting with Elements.
These are fantastic portraits, indeed! I love the progress you made with Iris's portrait - now the blindfold and especially the hand are PERFECT. Her hair might need a touch of highlights, though. Have you continued working with Tyrone's portrait? Even though he is impressive looking already, the shadowing and coloring of his skin is somehow flat, but that's the only crit I can really give.
