I was solving UB's the Kidnapping of Boo and I sent to Druid Groove by Smethy's magic. In there, I met 3 trolls and attack them. Nevertheless, their status was Near Death, they weren't not fall to ground so I coudn't kill 'em all. Moreover, by BP's harshness, I couldn't just escape from there too.

Is that bug? I've installed BG2 Fixpack v1, ItemUpgrade v34, Valhorn, Tashia Remix, UB v15(except restore minor dialogues), BP v177, BP v177 trigger fix, BG2 Tweakpack v3, NPC Kitpack, DEFJAM v4. That's all.

I have to mention one thing more. I've read Ronin's article. I met the same situation. But that situation was not always occured. So I could kill 4 Rune Assasins and escape from there by saving and loading game.

But that's not what I wanna say. I wanna say that these Rune Assasins are too strong. I suppose they are more stronger than Thief v16 Renal Bloodscalp. Their HP is too high, their attack skill is too good. Wow! wonderous assasins who are stronger than Shadow Thief's silhouette!

How do you think?

as Chev says, the unkillable trolls are a known bug in UBv15. not really much you can do about it other than run away.

no they're not. they're level 12 fighter/thieves, with the HP and THACO you would expect of a 12th level F/T. all they're doing is attacking more sensibly than they do in the original game: ie, they're going invisible as soon as they see you then attacking, rather than the other way around. they're not doing anything that a level 12 F/T in yr party could do.

if you can't cope with four of them, turn the difficulty down to EASY temporarily; if you can't cope with two fo them, turn the difficulty down to EASIEST temporarily - the ability for the user to control the level of their challenge was precisely the reason why Horred went to the trouble of creating difficulty level-related encounters.

I play on hard difficulty and I beat them with a party straight outta Irenicus's dungeon. Check the thread titles Rune Assassins for some hints on how.

my party at the time was:

charname - Kensai
amber - thief/fighter
yasraena - fighter
auren aseph - fighter
kivan - archer

with no magic and almost no spell casting ability. They are beatable with a good strategy and as seanas says they are not cheating they are doing what any fighter/thief would do.

I also beat them with the following today:

PC - Blackguard
korgan - fighter
star - assassin
kido - jester

The blackguard just kicks ass as a kit, its fun as hell to play, this party is also alot of fun to play and will get better with Edwin and Viconia added to it.

There is a patch to fix the troll issue here. It may overwrite some of the BP spawns in the area, but I'm really more concerned about the game actually, like, working. If you try it, let me know the results.

cheers for that Sim. under the circumstances, i'd choose standard spawns over unkillable trolls too.

They were 12th lv F/T? If they were dualclass, I can understand how they were strong like that. So they were both 12th lv in each class? or F/T total lv is 12?

As I said, I could beat them all in normal difficulty. I just supposed they were stronger than Renal. Forget about it.

Thanks for that Sim. But unfortunately, I've uninstalled my BG2. So I coudn't try it with BP v177. Anybody who can try it under BP, post the result to Sim and let us know.

I had the unkillable trolls too but at De'Arnise's (bad French, someone should fix that :D)
I fixed it by using death spells or petrification spells to kill them. It worked fine.

Even so, I remember fighting these lads before and looking at there dice rolls etc, (and there hide in shadows ability) they were ridiculously overpowered and nowhere within the D&D official rules for a character of that level!
Issues with "Video Gamers" vs "D&D Gamers" will always exist, but needless to say moders should try harder to stick within game balance and rulesets, to make the game (sorry for the yell)

MORE FUN TO PLAY!!! :whistling:

Hi Ronin, I've read in another post about the blackguard kit. Is this your own creation or something that is downloadable? Have installed Tactics just to use the Anti paladin kit, minus the dispel magic on hit. I'd be interested in trying this one out.

By the way in my BP177, no unkillable trolls or tought rune-assassins, just an unkillable Tolgerias. Solved by shapechange scroll.

Well a little searching and I found the kit.http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=23174&hl=Blackguard

Also the troll Nilthiri (from the druid stronghold quest 1) died about 6 times, but finally died for good.
