I am playing currently the mega install. I take great pains to avoid XP in the BG1 part of the game. DSotSC and NTotSC are not being adjusted by defjam somehow in all instances. I am swimming in xp. currently I am in CH 6. just reached Baldurs gate (did not enter the city yet) and decided to veer off and do DSotSC and NTotSC. Almost done with DSotSC. currently in the part where I have to rescue the dwarf's nephew. up to 70000 XP now. Defjam XP adjusted to none for spells 10% for traps and locks and 50% for kills and quests.

The question is. I am pretty much sweeping through every battle hardly touched. xp is pouring in. I am afraid if I get a strong XP headstart now it would be even easier later. Are my fears rational? Are monsters adjusted to be harder dynamically? or more of them? Playing on "core' rules. I am missing DND ver 3 and 3.5 adjusted XP about now

Play on insane and that'll balance things out just a hair.

When you get to BG2, don't uninstall defjam. Then your level progession will really slow down.

I find that playing on insane really helps in providing challenge in my mega install.  I also nerf alot of the items in the BG1 mods using NI, but you could also simply choose not to equip them. I know this is a topic of other seperate raging debates, but thats just how I deal with continuing to make the game fun and engaging.

EDIT - I also always play with a Fighter/Mage/Thief character with the mega installs and my core party members are all multi-class or dual class.  That also really helps keep leveling too quickly in check.

Extra XP... extra coins... loot... items... That's a main reason why I'm aavoiding megainstalls.

Retired from modding.

I don't think DEFjam (latest version and the previous) is working correctly either. First off I got a bunch of block errors on quest XP install. It works for spells but at 10% for traps I am not sure its working right either with 400xp for the first trap in Nashkell mines. That seems high to me for 10% installed.

If it worked right it would be the best thing going.

umm, excuse my NOOBiness, but can someone please tell me what this "Mega install is", where to get it, and if there are individual pieces, which ones to install in what order please?
I have been playing BG ever since it first came out (the original Baldur's gate...then TofSC...then BGII) but it never occured to me until this past September that there might actually be great additions for it on the net....heh, geuss that maeks me an old Noob eh? lol.

Read the BP forum for information what constitutes a "mega install"
In short, its simply adding several mods to your game sequentially.
