[quote name='Just a new guy' post='279492' date='Jan 20 2007, 11:06 PM']Also i see you skip alot of install stuff on most of the mods you have installed. Is there a good reason for this?I mean Other then reinstall the same stuff over and over again.Could you add more of the options of install, per mods then what you have listed, and the order still work?Or this that new frontier for another to work, on them selves? Is what you got the best and only way to mix and max the mods so they work together?[/quote]
If I understand your questions, I don't try certain types of mods simply for personal taste. I don't particularly like NPC mods, and the ones I have installed I don't always use; not big on romance or flirts. Kits I avoided for a while, but with [url="http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=7974"]the project to allow NPCs to have any installed kit[/url], I will be trying these in the future.

For advice on the order in which mods should go, follow the various installation threads.

And finally, in no way are my install lists the best. But they do work.
[/quote]

When i was speaking of your list of installed mods.I was noticing that each installed mod you had skipped stuff within that mod.Not installing those mods fully with all their offering to be installed. Was wondering if that was cause they was offering the same thing twice? Or those parts of the mod caused breaks in the game? Or you just didn't like them?(Hopes that cleared up the question :) )

I read the post about the tactic's.Sounded to me that your not finished with the improvments?Did i misunderstand?Reason for asking is it sounded like you may have went back to the testa and fixa boards,I did download the setup for tactic's.Is this the finished work?(if this question should been asked in the other form please forgive my laziness to go there and ask it)

The reason, i look, to you and your list, of the Mega Mod.Is cause, you list almost all the mods, i want to try at one time. There is afew more you don't have, have listed that i want to add.But those are not important right now.Guess what i need to do is learn how to become a fixer and tester of mods.Learn how to make a mod so i can work on doning my own fixes to make what i want to work as a mega install order to work one day.Been reading these forums for afew months now and have yet tried a mega install order yet.Can i get to talk more with you in pm's?I have msn messenger(guess thats what you mean by pm.

Wonders why these other modder don't show their weidu log list.

Because my modding skills are a joke.

Oh....

The fact that I do not even have BG1 or BG2 installed on my computer may be part of that too (busy with ToEE).

I was looking in your batch files for installing the miniMega and mega mod and noticed a bunch of personal fixes for stuff. Is there any way you can zip or rar them up and send them to me, I am interested to see what your fixing.

It might be easier for me to post them, as some of them are fixes made by G3 Fixpack that I'm using in a Baldurdash environment, or fixes that haven't made it yet into current version of certain mods. Also will force me to better document where I got some of my "fixes."

Will add more over the coming days.

UPDATE: I'm posting these here.

------------------------------------------------------
fixes / customizations
------------------------------------------------------
-- the EXTEND_TOP corrections
-- been experimenting with a biffing and an unbiffing script, each is simply a personalized version of what's included in the larger MegaInstall mods {not gonna post these yet}
-- cannot save in Ust Natha tavern
-- changes to *.BAT of various mods is to stop them from opening their Readme. This makes automatic installation much easier!

Ashes of Embers changes
-- TP2: [link]

BGT changes
-- TP2:
-- oAR0602.baf NEJ2 Compatibility fix: [link]
-- allow certain NPCs to transfer from BG1 to BG2: now an official option in BGT Tweaks version 5. Modified ARAM00.BAF no longer needed.

BP changes
-- TP2:
___ pro5's corrections to BP
___ conflict with CtB 'holly the elf' quest

Check The Bodies changes
-- implemented: [link]

DSotSC/NTotSC changes
-- implemented: [link]

D0-QuestPack changes
-- ronin69hof's corrections: [link]

Reign of Terror changes
-- corrupted BAM: [link]

Shadows Over Soubar changes
-- not yet implemented: [link]

Tactics changes
-- modified TP2, so that some components can be installed in a Big Picture game: [link]

TDD changes
-- not yet implemented: [link]
-- the TDD version of MONTAR13.CRE is a straght Assassin (I think). Don't know why, because the lower level versions are Fighter/Thief. BP, for some reason, had the correct version of MONTAR13.CRE
-- SPVIND3.spl: something was wrong with the original version. Gotta check this again at some point.

------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

Ashes of Embers problems mentioned have been reportedly fixed with the latest version.

http://www.pocketpla...p...2&Itemid=77

Text from that page to follow

"AoE version 26 appears in the night sky.
Cynics skeptical. FBI tight-lipped.

Eyewitness reports from the scene are a bit jumbled at this point in time, but it is believed that the newest version of AoE includes some minor bug fixes. Scientists speculate that these include:

Katars and Bolas are no longer missing their graphics
Fixed Kuo-toan bolts so they don't mung up installations
Monk proficiencies aren't out of order"

Edit: NOT CORRECTED AS OF v26

But from the V1 of the BG2 Fixpack the following:
Ashes of Embers (as of v26): The 'Anomen wielding swords and crossbows' component will cause a crash to desktop when encountering Anomen. Code has been sent to Ghreyfain to correct this, and it should be fixed in AoE v27.

so that component I would leave off.

@Just a new guy:

Thanks for the support.

For what you're looking for, I'm not your guy. I'm a noobie to the coding scene. I learned a lot by just playing, reading the forums, testing, etc. It took years, literally.

All the forums have really bright people, so be very sure to just read the threads that interest you, especially threads that talk about merits/demerits of certain mods. On PPG, the older threads under the Weidu forum will learn ya a lot about how the code works or doesn't.

For more experienced help, go to Pocket Plane Group and Gibberlings forums, which focus more on mod development; SHS forums for gameplay and troubleshooting. There are other forums, like Bioware and Iron Throne, but I'll let others recommend their favorites.

Turns out, the bola and monk changes were not incorporated, or not correctly, in v26. I just compared the files as confirmation.

Question:

After following the install order at the thread starter, I'm now reinstalling all of BG (after giving up on this install). The thing that did it was when I couldn't manage to start the game (assertation error with CHSound.cpp at line 4905 that I couldn't fix).

Right now, I'm looking at BP v177 as the main culprit, as it was the first thing that error'd for me, and I'm not all that confident that my duct-tape fixes solved much. I tried looking for v176 for a while, but I can't find it.

Could someone please tell me:

A). Where to get v176 now? (couldn't find it on the mirrors)
B). How to make v177 agree with everyone else.
C). Whether v178 will make everything better, and I should just sit on my hands and be patient (because it's comming out soon - I hope).

This isn't due to BP, it's due to mega-installing.

By searching, you will find that "CHSound.cpp at line 4905" is a "common" error, and how to fix it. No re-installing needed.

A). Where to get v176 now? (couldn't find it on the mirrors)

Don't know. I personally recommend v177.

B). How to make v177 agree with everyone else.

Follow [erebusant's guide].

C). Whether v178 will make everything better, and I should just sit on my hands and be patient (because it's comming out soon - I hope).

Your choice. Most of us will not wait.
Read the later parts of the [erebusant's guide] thread, and other threads in the Mega-Help forum, and there are suggestions on how to play with v177.

Oops... (hehe) I already uninstalled, cleared my registry and started again. Oh well - it'll probably clear up errors I would have had farther down the line.

I searched alot of places around the forums for help on that assertation error, including the troubleshooting sticky, but wouldn't find it. The only thing I found was the suggestion that the BG .exe file didn't have enough room to expand - considering that I have 60 gigs free, I passed on that one. For furutre reference, where should I have gone?

BAH (Bashes head into solid surface)

I have a more interesting problem now. Thanks to this thread, I passed on the Continuous Imoen with Custom Kit, Leina, and Boo familiar parts of the NEJ. However, when it came time to try the v602 patch, it didn't let me load it up. Neither did BGT run (which I tried, out of curiosity), as it couldn't find the IMOEN.CRE file for copying.

My problem is this: As stated in that thread:

"The file that NEJ2 is trying to alter for the Charming Rogue component has been already altered by the Fixpack, so the Charming Rogue changes can't be made to that file. unfortunately, CUT01.BCS is part of the new game routine of BG2 - so you could well have big issues when you get to the start of the BG2 part of yr game. i had thought that there were warnings around the place about the Charming Rogue not being compatible witha bunch of things - or at least, causing lots of issues, because of the changes it needs to make to imoen and when it makes those changes. the Leina issue is known too - there might be a workaround for it, but i think the workaround is 'don't install the Leina component on a BP-BGT-NEJ-mega install'."

So I can't install the custom Imoen kit. But if I don't do that, I FUBAR my install w/o the NEJ patch and BGT. My question is this: how in the hell did I get it to install correctly before, and what should I do to resolve this? Are the continuous Imoen and Imoen Charming Rouge kit parts separate? And will I ruin my install in some other way down the line by not adding Leina and Boo?

Another question: after reading through the over-extended songlist problem, I was wondering about that cheesy music that NeJ installs. Does that add lines to your SONGLIST.2DA? And if you get rid of those lines (perhaps, by backing up the .2da file before NeJ install and comparing it to the .2da file after), will that screw up NeJ even with the changes to the combo1a and theme files?

Thanks for all the help by the way!

To be honest, I think all of your questions should be in the Mega Mod Help forum, as this is the "post your Installed Mods here!!" thread.

BTW there's a more-better thread for listing your installation list over at PPG - here.

{Hoping a moderator will move these recent posts to a separate thread...}

Still, I'll present some ideas, but be warned that I'm not sure they will resolve your problems.

G3 BG2 Fixpack conflict:

If g3Fixpack is conflicting with some of the bigger (and older) mega-mods, then move its installation further down the list. When I finally do get around to using g3Fixpack in a megainstall, I'll be putting it after Tortured Souls, and possibly after Reign of Terror.

I don't know how this will affect the game, but that's the whole fun of megainstalling!

The NeJ portion:

"Are the continuous Imoen and Imoen Charming Rouge kit parts separate?"
--They are the exact same thing.

A method of removing NeJ (or any mod's) components is to manually alter the weidu.log.

-- Install all the components of NeJ, then install the patch.
-- Now stop, and save weidu.log somewheres.
-- Now, edit a copy of weidu.log so that only components you want to remove are in it.

For example:

// Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods
// The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod
// ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [Subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name
~SETUP-NEJ2.TP2~ #0 #1 // Continuous and Custom Kit Imoen

-- Now, run setup-nej2 and uninstall all the unwanted components, that is, the only ones that are in this weidu.log.
-- When that is done, just overwrite the altered weidu.log with the proper one.

Again, I have NO IDEA how this will affect the game.

This is the simplest method I can think of, without having to edit the TP2 of various mods, and making manual tweaks to the install procedure. Even so, someone may have already figured a better way to do this. Hopefully, if these posts are moved, you'll get more suggestions.

SONGLIST.2DA:
The SongList issue is separate from the NeJ cheesy music issue.

Removing lines from the SongList just means certain music called by the components of certain mods will not play. I have never heard of this causing a problem.

As to which lines to remove, I don't think I've ever seen anyone suggest which. I think I removed the line for Valygar's music, and another line that looked redundant, and maybe one or two others that I can't remember. Still, be sure to remove lines from near the bottom of the list, as these ones were added by mods. There can only be a total of 99 lines. You can actually wait to edit SongList until you have installed all of your mods in your MegaInstall. (I think.)

As for the NeJ background music, to remove that I believe the instructions are in that megainstall guide, or perhaps stickied in the Mega Mod Help forum. Something about replacing two files after NeJ is installed.

Hi all
I am planning to install BG2 TOB and 4 Wiedu mods [Tortured Souls v6.11,The Darkest Day Weidu v1.12 ,Shadows Over Soubar Weidu v1.12 and Tower of Deception v2]

Does anyone install these in the past [If not all maybe 2 of these] and having Any compatibility issues?
Any ideas whether these four mods will run ok or not?

Many Thanks

Good question. It would have been nice if you didn't post it here...

Questions like this belong [here].

Did a Google SEARCH <"Tower of Deception" site:www.shsforums.net> and found this: http://www.shsforums...php/t26664.html
