Another location of portal to NEJ

I've read somewhere and some time ago about another location of portal to NEJ areas. I mean not in CI in the beginning but somewhere in Athkatla. Where can I download it from and is it still compatible with new version of big mods and BP 177?

hlid had a version that put the portal into the planar sphere; it's not compatible with NEJ2. it's somewhere on this forum - probably in mod resurrections - if you want to download it and make it compatible with NEJ2.
thanx.
well, I'm not a modder so it might be difficult to me to make it compatible with NEJ2 - but I could try...
I've just checked mod resurrections forum and haven't found anything in mods descriptions. I'll try harder.
I've just found it here: http://www.shsforums...mp;#entry214692

There's some bug(s) in it preventing the teleporting to NEJ. The scripts are so small, it can't be too difficult getting it fixed. "I'm in" on finding them and getting this mod working.
Hazel-Ra, and others, let's give it a go.
I can't work on this for at least one week, maybe two, but eventually will report back with details.

Actually, it was specifically designed to *be* compatiable with NEJ2.
I don't care about changes in the code you do in the older version of NeJ. But I do care about hacking NeJ2. I have never given any permission to anyone to modify the code of NeJ2 related to the plot; and I ask you kindly don't do this. If the portal is located in AR0602, it should be there. If it does not suit your game, you have an option not to install NeJ2. There are many good mods around, which you can combine in one game and enjoy without need for hacking NeJ2. But if you want to play NeJ2, please beware! We are NOT creating a mod for the masses. It will not pleasure everybody and we hope you'll take a close look at readme and browse our forum boards so you can decide if you want to play it or not. It's not fair to install NeJ2 with other numerous mods and leave afterwards negative critism or otherwise hack it to make it compatible with other mods, to ruin its plot and/or to suit your game style. NeJ2 suits our own game style and if you like it, we will be happy, but if you don't like it, please don't touch it. Is it simple?
Good luck!

First and foremost, ronin69hof is totally correct. Full stop.
Second, no original NEJ2 content was/is harmed in the mod. (Notice I wrote content, not intent.) From what I can read from the files, it doesn't move the original, it adds another one. So its readme is incorrect.
Vlad should be happy.
Third, as mentioned in the thread about this mod, there is a philosophy about "modding a mod". I recognize and respect that a mod developer will not want certain things done to their mod. The extent to which I will honor these wishes depends on how it affects my enjoyment of the game.
Since this mod does not alter NEJ2's content, I will be using it.
Unless hlidskialf comes and tells us not to change his mod, I will be posting an update in this thread.
If hlidskialf comes and tells us not to change his mod, I will be providing the update via PM or email.
Let me summarize by paraphrasing one of my own statements:
... I truly believe that whatever [changes] a player [makes] to his/her [own game], in the privacy of his/her own home, and that is not causing injury or suffering to someone else, is his/her own choice. Yes, yes, [changing someone's mod], like masturbation, kills a kitten (or kittens, never could get that one straight); still, until a pile of dead kittens start to appear, I say [change] away.______________________________________________________________________________

This is difficult.Hacking someone elses mods without the authors permission is not acceptable behavior. If you want to do it for your own personal use nobody can stop you but dont post about how to do it.
On the one hand, I don't really want people editing my mods to make the Spectator Beholder show up throughout the new content and passing it round IEGMC.
On the other hand, I think there are a number of people who are behaving very daftly over use of their mod. Vlad is actively forbidding people from using anything but BD-WeiDU with NeJ2. Sikret is building scripts into Improved Anvil to prevent people from cheating. I think it's extremely presumptuous to try and exercise this degree of control over someone else's game. If I want to install Improved Anvil and cheat, why shouldn't I? If I want to use certain mods with NeJ2, I don't see why you feel in a position to tell me that I can't. (Yes, yes, there's all this about how it's fine to make changes in the safety of your own home, but really, I'm not seeing a lot of difference between hacking NeJ2 yourself, and asking someone else how to do it. The net result is that you play the same altered version.)
I'm hearing a lot of cries from modders in the vein of "if you don't like my mod the way it is, don't install it". Let me turn the tables: If you, the modder, do not want people utilizing your mod as they see fit, do not release it.

I'm not in a position to forbid but only to prevent... Seriously, all the reasons for using BD-WeiDU with NeJ2 are well-explained at the related forum boards. Nobody have objected my arguments yet, and I invite you to discuss all these issues there.
Sikret can do anything he likes with his mod, as well as any modder. Moreover, any modder can choose how he distributes the mod with no respect to your wishes. He has no obligations before you, and you might equally disregard his mod. However, your complaints about IA just indicate your interest in this mod. Otherwise, I cannot understand why you care about it.
The same is true about your complaints about my NeJ2. As I have already said, if you like it, thanks, if you don't, just forget about it.
If I want to use certain mods with NeJ2, I don't see why you feel in a position to tell me that I can't.
I don't feel I can stop this bad practice of misusing my mod, but I can prevent you from doing so in my own way introducing various intended *bugs*. B)
Let me turn the tables: If you, the modder, do not want people utilizing your mod as they see fit, do not release it.
The problem is that you cannot turn the table, because there is no table to turn. I make mods, I give you away my time and my efforts... and what can YOU give to me? NOTHING! (except endless criticism, complaints, insults). Unfortunately, I cannot promise that I won't release my mods in future. It is very possible though taking into account my present RL. However, please bear in mind that the mods I release only for enjoyment of those who really like them (even if there are 2, 20 or 200 those who just say thanks to me). I don't release them for you.

I hope you don't feel that most of us are the 'YOU'. I have had many very fun hours playing your mods!!!! Thank You for all your time and hard work!!!!! If I was of a mind to write a critique of a book that I loved and read many times, I would still write about the parts I didn't like or liked less or how I would improve the book. I still love the book and still love the way you develop your mods.what can YOU give to me? NOTHING! (except endless criticism, complaints, insults).
I understand how you feel about NeJ. From the story point of view that too many other mods can upset how you want the story to flow. The current Fixpack breaks other mods (like keys needed for an item upgrade mod) and understand why you don't want to use it. You should be able to code it how you want to. I don't like to hear this:
To code so you can't just cheate your way though your mod is cool. To code so others 'can't' make their mod compatible with NeJ I feel is not for the best. I think it is right for you not spending time making your mod compatible with all or many other mods. It would be good to tell players that if you try installing the Fixpack or other big mods that you will not support them and require them to post thier WeiDU log to see what mods they have installed before you spend time on trying to fix thier game.I don't feel I can stop this bad practice of misusing my mod, but I can prevent you from doing so in my own way introducing various intended *bugs*. cool.gif
If you really wish NeJ not to be played with other big mods would you please release Charming Rouge Imoen and Boo familier on thier own. I can play NeJ on its own, but I need Boo and Charming Imoen in all my games.

Chev, you may extract Imoen's kit from NeJ by yourself. It's not difficult at all. The only problem is to make it compatible with other mods and fixpacks, which change Imoen But I I'll release the stand-alone version when I reach my home PC.
With respect to Boo, there are more problems than solutions. It was much more stable in v4.2b before Horred fixed it again (unfortunately). I think he would better make this component from scratch saving a lot of hours fixing it all the time. Anyway, meanwhile, you should take this component from NeJ2 v4.2b or earlier.

Why do I do this? Main reason is because I like these mods. Really. But all people have different tastes and while I may like 77% of the mod's content, the other 23% can spoil the whole picture for me. I change it to suit ME perfectly, and possibly my changes won't make sense or be useless to anyone else. Yes, this includes sometimes rewriting dialogs (parts or whole), changing starting locations for NPCs, editing items and so on. Since I am going to be the one who ends up playing it, I'd say I have the right to do this.
That said, I want to offer my thanks to Vlad and other mod authors for investing their lifetime into creation of those mods and sharing their work with us. Thanks guys. B) I would never think to steal credit from you.

You only have to read through a couple of threads on this or any other board to find a post along the lines of "I installed your mod and it broke my install/It totally sucks/ It made technicolour fairies appear in the bottom of my garden".
It is, I imagine bad enough when your mod is the one of 7 or 8 installed, singled out as the culprit for the problem, (especially when it's installled with another mod the readme specifically says it's incompatible with.) It would have to twice as bad when the mod in question is not your original work, but someone else's version.
I think therefore it's reasonable for a modder to say they don't want someone else to modify their work.
