This is where you learn the advantages of not installing mods from people who actively code such annoyances.

Bigg, this comment is unnecessary. It is clearly stated in ReadMe that Hrothgar is a MUST to play NeJ2, which means installing NeJ2 you are bound to have Hrothgar in your party. As regards, you comment I ask you kindly to refrain from such in the future. Otherwise I'll come and make with you this --> :new_bottom: .

I don't remember having this dying issue before, but then again I don't play version 4.2b anymore so I can't really help.

To all those who encounter this problem, the phrase "I sense someone is missing from your party...." means only and only that Hrothgar is not in your party and is required for further events to occur. Any modifications to dialogues and scripts trying to overcome this trigger will obviously result in more problems. That is why I strongly recommend not to play with files but to play the game. Good luck!

the bigg already knew who that was. SimD is recognizable, and loveable, without ever having to login.

That's not the real Vlad (unless a moderator wants to confirm the IP)

(1) the real Vlad would never forget his password!

(2) the real Vlad would never use a spank-smilie. The whipping boy/S&M one, maybe, but not the spanky.

This is incorrect. In my game, I modified the player1.dlg and had no ill effects later in the game. I'm not at home yet, but I'm not so sure it had anything to do with Hrothgar, but I could be wrong.

In any case, the real Vlad doesn't lie about his mods. He either complains or stumps off in a huff, but he doesn't give incorrect information.

Good luck!

Has the real Vlad ever used an exclamation point?

Yes he does except he usually adds a smiley, too. Perhaps we have a Vlad imposter?

If NeJ2 breaks the game at several points if you don't have Hrothgar with you, then what do you do if Hrothgar gets chunked/frozen/drained/disintegrated or permanently leaves due to your reputation (assuming he does that)?

Or does it only break the NeJ2 quests, not the main path?

Last time I had this problem it was a few years ago with nej 4.2b. What I remember was trying to do the Leina quest after dumping Hrothgar. Apparently in that version he was needed for that quest too. Either that or the fact that I picked up the stuff from Leina's room caused acute heart problems on the way down the stairs. Good Luck! :) heh, heh.

As for the frozen, chunking, etc. I installed PRO5 Tweak. Perfect for these situations where you lose equipment, not sure yet if it allows you to resurrect a character killed that way.

2 cents,

Here's my experience with "Hrothgar must be in your party for you to go further in my mod". It was inconvenient but I I kept him in my party for a BGT run through nej. My main character is a fighter that I hope to dual to mage later. Anyway, with him and another NEJ NPC Dar in my party I felt I had no room for a mage I went to the Halruaa where you can't take any weapons or armor.

In hindsight, I guess you are supposed to have a mage and do stuff with magic. If you haven't played the mod, you are supposed to leave your equipment in Ulcaster ruins or whatever or else your weapons, armor you have will be all taken from you and given to a Druid in Ulcaster and not returned or anything.

So I went through Halruaa, I had to resort to the walkthrough because many times I would have no idea where to continue my quest also being unable to fight anything since I could use no weapons and a lot of the quests require use of arcane magic - no wizard at the time. Anyway, at the end of the Halruaa quest, I got back to Ulcaster and 1/2 my equipment that I left inside a container was gone in the little dungeon below ulcaster was the end of it for me I reloaded to an earlier save and booted Hroth from the party. Next time I don't think I'm going to be going through Nej part 2.

I'm not sure you should delete player1.dlg - isn't it used for other parts of the game?

I didn't delete the entire file, just the "I sense someone is missing from your party..." entry. I decided to skip the Samuel part and continue to CC...
It worked fine from then on, as long as the player1.dlg was edited.
