Gonna try a BP install next and see what the SoS/TDD and TS mods are like!

As usual newbie me has questions:

Checked out some of the text info in the v176 and v177 installation packages and newbie me is somewhat at a loss to see exactly what the upgraded versions do, besides bug fixes. Can people verify that the newer versions work better then 161? Are they more stable etc? No new glaring bugs?

Installation of the basic v161g with SoS/TDD and TS seems pretty straight foward with the auto extractor, im guessing the newer versions install in the same fashion, ie: theres no 100 step guide with them?

*cough*

And they (BPv161g etc) work without BGT and BG1 correct?

Some of the files in the newer versions seem to be BG1 related, or BGT. This may be the case, but ive had my fill of installing BG1 and BGT lately. Just want a BP setup with SoA/ToB and the 3 mega mods.

Ive noticed there are newer versions of the mega mods out now (TSv605, SoSv110 WeiDu and TDDv110 WeiDu), but the BPv161g guide states SoSv100, TDDv103 and TS501 with all the relevant patches for those mods. Are we to avoid using the newer versions and stick to the versions in the installation guide? Newbie me is unsure of the differences between the older versions and the newer ones labelled WeiDu, other then that the WeiDu ones are WeiDu compatible or for use with BGT, id guess.

Particularly, what ive been reading seems to indicate TDD has bug problems. With the setup defined in the BPv161g guide will I be able to play through that mod withen BP relatively smoothly? Ive seen TDDsinTDD out recently.... Just want to avoid playing for a couple days only to reach an impasse that wrecks my game due to bugs.

Any recommendations not found in the standard guides for this setup?

Aside from the 3 basic mega mods, what mods would you people who have played the basic BP setup recommend to install in this package - that you really found enjoyable? In terms of stability and enjoyability.

Lastly, im sorry if any of these questions seem stupid or redundant, im guessing the answers are all around ... somewhere. But there are so many versions and so many readmes I just get lost. Hell, took me a couple hours to figure out what all the acronyms meant when I found this place. Yall need to post a dictionary of terms yo (for the modding impaired).

:whistling:

PS can someone tell me what the root directory of your BG2 folder is...is it not the main game folder? Whats the difference?

I strongly recommend to use only latest versions of all mods, including BP. In this case you can count on support and help on any problems you might run into during installation and gameplay. If you follow the install instructions for the new stuff you won't have problems getting them to work stable. If you're not sure about install order and compatibility between chosen mods, you can post your desired mod configuration here or in separate thread and ask for advice (there're plenty of such posts around here).

If you choose to use the old BPv161 version, you must follow its installation instructions EXACTLY as they're in that install guide, meaning you can't skip installing any listed mods or add any mods to the list, or use different versions of listed mods.

Ok, ive fiddled with trying to install this a bit already and things arent working so great.

1st attempt was:
BGII - SoA
ToB/patch 26498
SoSv110
Baldurdash BG2 fixpack 112 (cause I forgot to install before SoS)
TDDv110 (didnt install kits)
TS605 - errors, installation aborted, said "please install the official ToB patch before installation of this mod"
abandoned install and wiped clean

2nd attempt:
BGII - SoA
ToB/patch 26498
Baldurdash BG2 fixpack 112
TSv6.05 (worked...)
SoSv110
TDDv110 (no kits)
BPv176 - errors, aborted install of v176
tried BPv161 for fun, got message:
Cannot create BPv161G - AUTOINSTALL.exe
wiped clean again

3rd attempt:
BGII - SoA
ToB/patch 26498
Baldurdash 112 (yes I know its not stated to install this here on BP161g instructions but figured it couldnt hurt...shrug, that was before reading your reply)
SoSv100, with patch 101, TDDv103, with patch 103a, and TSv501 with patches 503, 504, and 505 all placed in main BG game folder (no idea what the root directory is, which is where it says to place the exe's)
BPv161g extracted into main game folder
BPautoinstaller ran
-installed SoS and TDD fine, but then the autoinstaller seemed to run itself again, producing the same error:
Cannot create BPv161G - AUTOINSTALLER.exe

Far as I know I had all the appropriate files stated in the BPv161g (well, cept the baldurdash fix), but mayhaps not in the right places, as I have no idea what the root directory is.

I just want the basic mega mods, TDD/SOS/TS, with SoA/ToB for this install. If I can actually install BP with those then ill worry about other stuff.

Your doing this all wrong and you'll never get a good install or a finish a game like that. :crying: Here is how its done, taken form official install guide.

0) Full BGII SOA+TOB+26498_patch
1) BD-WeiDU 1.5 or G3 Fixpack
3) SoS v1.11
4)TDD v1.11
4) TS-BP v6.04.01
6) Install ANY other mods you want here (hope they're truly WeiDU and don't ruin anything).
7) BP v177
8) G3 Tweaks and/or Virtue (for best results)
9) Worldmap 6.3 I think is the latest version

Yes you can install NeJ with it, you want version NeJ2v42b and the patch NeJv602, I believe.

Id suggest downloading those off the official website, not the one off of Black Wyrm's Dragon Hoard page as the Hoard page one has a corrupt MxLeina file in it, which creates problems with the patch install.

I have SoS v1.12, TDD v1.12, TS-BP v6.10, BP v177a and BP-BGT-Worldmap-v6.6.1 lying on my desktop as winRAR files. Do I just go and install each one and will it work, or do I do something else??

Please help!

You need to have the G3BG2Fixpack core component installed for the worldmap mod. Also don't install the Ascension component of the BP 177a, as it has bugs.

So If you want the Ascension, use the original mod, and that's recommended to be put first before anything else, even the fixpack, so there you have it. Install order, (although you have to unrar them one by one and then cut/paste the content to the game folder):
0) Full BGII SOA+TOB+26498_patch
1) Ascension Mod v1.4.21
2) G3BG2Fixpack (core component)
3) SoS v1.12
4) TDD v1.12
5) TS-BP v6.10
6) BP v177a
7) BP-BGT-Worldmap-v6.6.1 + the consolidation patch, found in it's forums, although it might not be necessary.

Hi Jarno,

why you recommend to install Ascension (newest version you get is v1.4.23) before Fixpack? Is there a reason? The only thing we do is, to split Ascension in to installation parts, so we install the Tougher Illasera component before BGT, because of incompatibility. But thecarrotdude don't use BGT, so Ascension can be installed after BP.

Greetings Leomar

Leomar, Ascension has several problems that have been interfering with mega-installs. (The list of bugs are being collected [here]. I need to add a few there myself.) Until the new version is ready, installing it before g3Fixpack has been recommended. I sent this notice to Leonardo some time ago.

If BiG World is already fixing these problems behind-the-scenes then yes the mod should be installed wherever BWP is recommending.

Ascension overwrites ... that's why is always good to put a mod that overwrites instead of patching BEFORE any other mods. Then of course, if no other mods touches the area overwritten by Asc theorically u can install it at any time,

Yes, but you also need to remember to delete the mod folders, exe's, and TP2's as they are 'already used', and the WeiDU doesn't cope well with them.

Okay.
Also, do you know if the bonus cd from BGII the collection will affect any of the mods?
Also, I want to install the http://weidu.org/ease.html 'ease of use' mod, in what order should I install it.

It shouldn't. And well, you can actually get almost* the same content by using the CLUAConsole and creating wmart1 and wmart2 creatures inside the adventures mart. *:You'll just get them when you create them...

Also, I want to install the http://weidu.org/ease.html 'ease of use' mod, in what order should I install it.

Before the BP-BGT-Worldmap-v6.6.1, also you might want to check out the G3BG2 Tweak Pack, put it to the same place in the WeiDUing order.
