Upon further investigation problem seems to stem from an issue with the Cyclops animation. To wit;

CYC01.cre calls for animation ID: IC_CYCLOP - 57344

It wuld appear that this was reason for crash as when I changed called animation in creature file to;

Animation ID:  IC_ETTIN - 57360

Area now loads fine.  Possible there may be other animation problems too now that I think of it. IKE's dungeon at the start had an oddity in it with relation to the Duregars. When enlarged they took the form of

(I Think) Death Knights, rather then Giants. Only two problems I've encounterd so far.

Thoughts.....

ok, it seems as tho something in yr install has messed with yr animations - altho i'm not sure what. SOS, TDD, CtB, RoT, and BP all alter the animations, but they're all supposed to be compatible (with the possible exception, perhaps, of RoT - but if so, i would have expected KD to mention it). so unless there's an undocumented animation clash in that lot (possible, but not probable), one of the other mods must have altered yr animations - and the only possible candidate i can see might be BG2 Tweaks (but this is only a guess, and not a very good one).

actually, i take that back: looking at KD's animation scheme, RoT does use the Cyclops animation, so possibly there's a clash between TDD and RoT - altho i'd be surprised.

They who? If TDD,SOS,TS,CtB....then ya. But RoT is still working out the kinks I think. I'll monitor my game even more closely and report back. Aside from those MODS I have a number of samller one as listed up above. Its not an exact science trying to squash these things...

I have a very similar problem with BP 176 and also with the latest 177 (just installed it to test if it would incl. a fix ). My game also crashes (tried with 2 different comps) as soon as I see the cyclop in the Nalia Keep area. Solution was to not confront it at all.

To much of my disarray the problem manifested again very soon, now inside the keep's basement when meeting the boss: Torgal and his giant troll goons. Each and everytime I CTD as soon as the dialog finishes and the the battle starts.. Now I can't finish the quest at all :(

Pls help, is this also animation related and how to fix it if is? The save is a multiplayer LAN game I play with my girlfriend and now we are stuck for good :/ Below is my weidu.log if it helps any.

you've got BPv176 and BPv177 installed? sorry, but yr only solution is going to be reinstall.

you can try uninstall both, then reinstalling BPv177, but i make no promises that it'll fix yr problems. you've got animation conflicts - conflicts which aren't there when yr install is working - and the only way to be certain of fixing them is a fresh install.

you can try uninstall both, then reinstalling BPv177, but i make no promises that it'll fix yr problems. you've got animation conflicts - conflicts which aren't there when yr install is working - and the only way to be certain of fixing them is a fresh install.


Unfortunately I had this problem before with BP176 as well. I tried with 2 different pc:s, same crash at the same place. I only installed 176 yesterday hoping it would correct this.

u also have some incompatible components from ease of use mod installed. you can see my weidu.log file in my sig to see the compatible components.

Funny thing is that the uninstalling bp176 and reinstalling bp177, then ease of use reinstall, seemed to fix these CTD:s (cyclops & Torgal) although I had these "bugs" already with bp176. But it works now so that it is all that matters =) Thanks for your help amd suggestions!

However, I thought the only incompatible ease of use mods were these:
* Multi-Class Grand Mastery
* True Grand Mastery (extra half-attack, etc.) (Baldurdash)

actually since i am using bp176, maybe the compatibility list has changed since bp177. however the following i thought were incompatigle:

1. xp cap remover
2. multi strongholds
3. keep drizzt's loot
4. shapeshifter rebalancing
5. romance bugfixes
6. rest anywhere

just made that list out of memory. the guideline i had followed was that whatever was incompatible with classic non weidu bp was incompatible with bp176 and that seemed to be the general sentiment as well. maybe the more expert modders can clarify on this.

not at all. else converting it to weidu was almost pointless. it's far more compatible. just not with mods that overwirte instead of append.

on Ease of Use and incompatibilities:
1. xp cap remover - of course. BP has a better fix (ie, it goes to level 50 in multiclass)
2. multi strongholds - this is and was only ever incompatible with TS. so if you don't have TS-BP installed, it is now compatible with BP.

3. keep drizzt's loot
4. shapeshifter rebalancing
5. romance bugfixes
6. rest anywhere

all four of these were not listed as incompatible, just not listed as compatible.... they certainly work now with BP-weidu.

the parts of Ease of Use that still don't work with BP are those components which change rules (and the bonus merchants, just to prove that rules of thumb have exceptions) - grand mastery, proficiency changes, etc - and in each case, they're already addressed in BP, so you don't need them from Ease of Use (or the G3 Fixpack).

the following BP components are incompatible with Ease of Use and duplicated in BG2_Tweakpack:
* Multi-Class Grand Mastery
* True Grand Mastery (extra half-attack, etc.) (Baldurdash)
* Un-Nerfed THAC0 Table, Saving Throws, Grand-Mastery, and Arcane, Divine Spell Progression
* Bonus Merchants

the following Ease of Use component is incompatible with BP; the BG2_Tweaks version may conflict with BGT:

You mean Tweaks, of course, not the Fixpack.

All of the rule changing components of BG2 Tweaks now go out to level 50, including the XP cap remover. What's the issue with Bonus Merchants and Faster Chapter 1&2 Cutscenes?

the bonus merchants are installed by BP as well: BP checks to see if they're already installed and skips if they're present, but BG2T doesn't.

the faster cutscenes may well be compatible with BP now: Ease of Use just dumped compiled scripts into the overide folder, but BG2T doesn't: wahey! but BG2T does compile a new PLAYER1D.bcs, which BGT (and the Imoen Romance, even if that isn't strictly BP+ related) uses.

Wow, that's an incredibly stupid bug on my part. player1d.bcs shouldn't be in the compile list; that's why I have the patch code below it. This'll be fixed in the next release. I'll add a check to the bonus merchants as well.

god knows - altho to be honest, i've never had any trouble with multiple stronghlds; either with the olf BPv161G nor with the Weidu-ed BP + TS-BP.

yep, it's one of the basic components of BP.


Grand mastery with just bp installed is possible in multi class characters but as i noticed its not "TRUE" grand mastery so installing the true grand mastery component from bg2tweaks is a must imo. As for the multi class grand mastery from bg2 tweaks better avoid it cause i had bug issues in the past with it when having dual class characters or if i dualed my main char to another class. ( inactive abilities of old class were never recovered).
