hi there,

in some new BG1 mods you find so many uber- items that its a real pain to lose them at the beginning of bg2 (BGT, DSOTSC / NTOTSC for example)
after you have patched tob youŽll not be able to use the "quickly press pause at the beginning of bg2"- trick anymore and lose everything.
I would like to know if there is a mod or script that lets you keep your stuff ?

thanks a lot for your replies!

There is one, if you use BGT then you can install that component from the BGT tweak mod, if you start a fresh bg2 game without bg1 then you can use my own bg2soa item import mod. Both of them are located here in the forums. not all items will be transferred over just a select few but its better than nothing.

There might be a simpler way... Is it possible to travel back to BG1 areas after transition? If so, stash your loot in a container somewhere, then travel back there to pick it up.

Why is that?

Because the BG2 files have no reference whatsoever to any BG1 areas and none of the BG2 areas have exit codes to BG1 areas, just like in Bg1 on the worldmap you can see the BG2 areas but cant travel to them.

Can't you use "movetoarea" with the console?

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

Yes, you can. Any scripting action is perfectly viable using the console.

Swe-e-e-et! 'Tis also means that (as I had read from a thread from last year) modders who have the interest can create content that has a 'Return to Baldur's Gate' theme.

Back to the Gate (BttG)

RAMAZITH?S TOWER is much taller on the outside and maybe you only killed his Simulacrum?

Oberan and Shandolar need help more help with building their skyship. The skyship graphic from IWD II could be used.

The Low Lantern is missing!!!

Aldeth of the Merchant League need help finding a missing ship that is more than it seems.

Alora, who is in your pary or finds you in the south, is blamed for some missing stuff from the Hall of Wonders.

The ELFSONG TAVERN's ghost is upset and is chaseing away all to guests. Find out what got her upset and fix it.

So can we make the request here, or is something more formal needed?

BGT Tweak:
- add exit codes from BG2 locations to BG1 locations. Potential BG2 areas: Athkatla's City Gate and any 'outside' locations like Trademeet, D'Arnise Hold, Druid Grove, etc.

Chev, your suggestions deserve a separate thread - they are some great ideas.

Azazello,

I have long wanted to make that mod and another, Beyond the Gates (BtG) a BG2 mod, but I don't code. :crying: If someone wants to work on them I would be happy to help with developing the ideas, dialog, quests and stuff. I don't have hard and fast ideas so imput from the development team would be welcome. :whistling:

We could work on it together, get our own forum and workroom, I can code a little and am still learning.

What I did in NeJ2: I created one link from all the areas of BG2 to one area of BG1 (Ulcaster), much the same way Watcher's Keep has the link to all the areas in BG2 and in ToB. That's basically all. As NeJ2 v6.7 will be installed after BGT, all the BG1 areas will be revealed on the map. Also many of them will be revisited in the third part of NeJ2.

[EDIT] As a side note, there is a subcomponent in NeJ2 starting from v6.5, which is Merhant Bank. Aldeth gives you a big discount in purchasing vouchers and some items. Vouchers can be refund later in Athkatla. So, you may sell some useless equipement of BG1 for vouchers and get almost all your money back. There are several good items in BG1 (non-available in BG2) though, which I'll leave in Irenicus dungeon.

Vlad,

There is BGT-Tweak v4 with

8. Import more items into Shadows of Amn: This tweak allows the importation of the following items from Baldur?s Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast to Shadows of Amn - Greenstone Amulet, Wand of the Heavens, Ring of Protection +2, Cloak of Protection +2, Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise, Eagle Bow, Shadow Armor, Boots of Stealth, Bracers of Archery, Gauntlets of Dexterity, Light Crossbow of Speed, Ankheg Plate Mail, Cloak of Non-Detection, Ring of Wizardry, Full Plate Mail +1, Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Ring of Holiness, Cloak of Balduran, Ring of Fire Resistance, and Ring of Freedom. Please note that importation of these items WILL VERY LIKELY make Shadows of Amn much easier than usual, and as such installation of this component can be considered a cheat.

You might want to see which items you move over to see if them are the same.

I hope this importation of loot means that you have to fight/sneak for it in Hotel Irenicus, and not just sitting in the trunk waiting for you to pick it up. I'm one of those players who think that it's perfectly logical that Irenicus or the Shadow Thieves took your goods and sold/dumped them. More so, I'm waiting for someone to expand on the Mae'Var and/or Aran quests and provide option to tell him to give/get (some of) your stuff back (specialty items, not the Ring of Protection +1 that Korevas gives you <_< ).

Vlad, when I first read about the voucher thingies, my first thought was that it sounded too modern. But I guess it's historically valid, and the way the concept is presented merges well with the feel of the game. As I've been thinking about it more and more, it provides the only opportunity that I know of to immediately go get Imoen from Spellhold. So thanks for providing that op.

Not-an-aside, I'm glad to know that we can get back to Baldur's Gate without the use of the Almighty CLUA, but I'ld like to be able to do it without having to install a whole other mod. I only hope The-Powers-That-Be bless us with this tweak request... Posted Image

No worry. I'm not concerned with the original items. Most of them you'll find earlier or later in BG2 or NeJ2, and even several copies of them. :)

Chev's ideas are great, but not something I'd like to do, unfortunately.

OK. What about
