I have tried and tried to start my long planned mega install - I checked the forums and read a couple of files on how best to go about it, but I can't get past the 1st part! I put the 3 NEJ files into my BGII directory (NeJ2v42b.exe, NeJ2Biffer_v3.rar and NeJ2v602.exe), unpacked the biffer and ran the NeJ2v42b file - remembering to say no to the overwrite of the tisunpack.exe file. Initially I had problems due to a corrupted version of the NeJ2v42b file but after downloading twice more from other servers I finally got a good one. So having run that file, I removed the "required file" entries from the tpu file and went to run the biffer... I suspect I must have done something wrong as I have not been able to find anyone else having this problem. After installing (apparently!) 781 files, I got the message "ERROR: error loading (music/combo1/combo1b.acm) Stopping installation because of error." It then proceeded to take everything back off... :wall:
Help!!! :crying: (please!?!)
Fiona
ps - I did a full install of SoA & Tob and patched with the official patch before doing ANYTHING and at this point I still have absolutely nothing else installed.

I tried to install with the Nej biffer too, but it didn't seem to work (I probably did something wrong anyway). Then I just installed nej and nej patch, took out the lines that seanas said in the BGT - BP install directions (see post). It seemed to work just fine, but the main characters in nej won't talk to me. However I installed a lot of other weidu mods, so I don't know what went wrong. Since you have nothing else installed, try a reinstall even without the biffer.

there is a post here describing how to change the NEJ2 music back to the original BGII music after you've installed. the fact that you've got the error
ERROR: error loading (music/combo1/combo1b.acm) Stopping installation because of error
makes me wonder if you made the changes described in the 'how to change the NEJ2 music' post before you started yr NEJ2 install?

if so, i'll have to alter that post to make it clear that it's a hack to be done after yr install has finished, and not a fix to be made prior to installing NEJ2. if yuo haven't moved files around, then there's probably another bloody corrupted archive; however i'm guessing that you've moved the music file prior to installing NEJ2.

ummm I did see that post and realised it was only to be used if you were wanting to change the music back and I wish it was the cause of my problem (cause then I would know what to do about it...) but although I did monkey around with it, it wasn't until after I had already had the problem - I was hoping it might help to fix the problem. I guess this means looking for another copy of at least one of the files? Mmm, only problem, which one? The last NeJ2v42b.exe file I downloaded seemed to work fine but... Any further suggestions please? (although I will try a whole new install I think just in case)
Any help would be great right now.

ok: can you attach your Setup-NEJ2.deug file here? you might need to rename it to a .txt for the forum software to allow you to attach it. this will give me a better idea abuot why nej was flaking on the sound file.

and i've just noticed this:

ps - I did a full install of SoA & Tob and patched with the official patch before doing ANYTHING and at this point I still have absolutely nothing else installed.

from yr first post: does this mean you haven't installed one or other of the baldurdash patches (BD-weidu if you hacked the NEJ2.tp2 file, baldurdash 1.12 if you didnt - altho, please dont use 1.12, hey?)? because quite possibly BD is fixing the music file and NEJ2 - which requires BD in order to install properly - can't therefore find the file it's looking for.

Another thing, you have a completely fresh install of SoA + ToB + 26498 Patch? I've seen other threads where if you try installing NEJ2 and have a corrupted archive, if you do not completely delete all of your NEJ and NEJ2 folders that are created when you extract the archive it can create problems when you try to re-install in the future.

I think I removed those lines from the tp2 before I even installed too. Had problems since.Whoops.

Thank you very much for your help guys - the problem was the corrupted NEJ2 install. When it stuffed up I just used the things in my "clean install" folder. Turns out that didn't cover nearly enough things... When I did the full re-install everything worked fine. Btw, the install instructions I am following says to install Baldurdash after NEJ2 so that was what I was planning on doing. Thanks again very much - muchly appreciated!
