Actually, i got a new problem: When installing BGT there comes up a fatal error, the file bgt/modify/cre/imoen.cre can't be found, but its there, I'm completely sure!

I followed the instructions of this topic, apart from installing TDD and ROT character kits, i know how to handle it.

Do I only need to download BGT again or is this a bigger problem?

Thanks for help

Only once during all the installs I've run did I come up with a .cre error from a .cre not being found. It was right at the very beginning of the installation after the BGT installer imported all the the creatures from BG1 directory to do it's stuff, and it missed one of the Hobgoblins. Try restoring your dialog.tlk, to the point just before you tried to install BGT, and try running the installer again. If it crashes at the same point again, next step is to try re-installing Baldur's Gate and run the installer again.

I will try it with a reinstallation, it ran three times I think, but always the same mistake.
But it seems to me that the unfound file is not from BG but from BGT.

Hallo everybody
I have installed a megamod (I skipp for now the wiedu.log) but I think  that CtB should be installed before TDD: it is because I read elsewhere that CtB "not append the scripts but it overwrites them" (This if i well remember). In my game there is a problem in the Xzar quest (TDD) which doesn't start when i rescue montaron....

Can someone tell me if i'm right?

If I reinstall again the entire game changing the order should my savegame work again?

The last question is if i install another 'other' mod (FR - ROV) have i start a new game?

Thanks!

If you have installed BP v1.77, you don't need to read, but otherwise I think the Xvart-Fix mentioned in the first post of this topic should help you.

the only thing that jumps out at me is the Improved Anvil: altho it's a new mod, it's an old-school file overwriter, complete with undocumented changes.

if the Xzar TDD quest is not happening, then something has overwritten yr AR0300.bcs file (ie, the docks area) - removing any AR0300.bcs file from yr override folder, and starting from a save before you first enter the docks area will most likely fix this.

a better fix, tho, would be to remove whichever mod had destructively alterd yr AR0300.bcs file. and here, i'm suspecting the Improved Anvil - it destructively alters all of the files it mods and it doesn't document these changes. you couldn't pay me to install that mod.

I have a little question as i want to have my game as challenging as it can be. If i install Tactics at the very beggining of the installation(yeah i know it overwrites files thats why i would put it at the beggining) will i have any problems with other newer mods that does not override files?I wont probeably be installing bg for some time as i`m in USA on my cousin computer but i just want to know that :D and yeah i know that horred said that only improved irenicus is compatibile but maybe when you put tactics at the begginign it will work together??

Wouldn't you possibly end up with a lot of conflicting scenarios? Say Tactics overwrites a file, then BP comes along and appends the same file. I would think that would be confusing, at best,,, I'd be afraid of too many headaches, and things breaking.

Hi. Forgive me my n00b question.
From what i understand - the biffing file, provided by erebusant, consists of three parts.
Does it mean I have to make 3 *.bat files for Bonehill, PreBP and BPEnd and run them respectively after installing Bonehill, before installing BP and after installing BP, making NO change to the code provided?

Also in previous threads I have found YetAnotherBiffer.txt
from Azazello, quoting:
- backup of chitin.key and dialog.tlk
- does not biff the TIZ files (for simplicity sake), but the code is there just REM'd out
- some cosmetic filename changes
- added the check for weidu.exe - in case, um, someone doesn't have the file in their folder and, um, the batch file deletes nearly everything from override, forcing the person to, um, reinstall everything afresh

So now I'm confused. Should I ignore updated biff file, assuming, that, if i thoroughly follow instructions in the manual , provided by erebusant and his biff code, my installation will be ok and i have nothing to worry about?

Also about tutu tweaks, is this the file i can find in g3 folder on the first server listed(http://america.iegmc.net/)?
and i just have to extract xp cap level workaround files without installing TUTUtweaks mod?

Thank you.

You don't need the Bonehill.bat anymore if you install SoBHv2.05 because it includes it's own autobiffer at the end. The PreBP, and BPEnd .bats are made up as seperate batch files, and run respectively at the appropriate time.

Also in previous threads I have found YetAnotherBiffer.txt
from Azazello, quoting:
- backup of chitin.key and dialog.tlk

Azazello's biff content is awesome stuff, but you don't even want to go there if you are new at doing this sort of thing. It's really easy to do something wrong that you don't expect to happen, and then your install is hosed. It's always a good idea to make copies of your chitin.key, dialog.tlk, and your override directory at specific points in your install. That way if you woof something, you only need to roll your install back to that point, and restore those files, along with deleting any biffs you create with the biff routines.

So now I'm confused. Should I ignore updated biff file, assuming, that, if i thoroughly follow instructions in the manual , provided by erebusant and his biff code, my installation will be ok and i have nothing to worry about?

Your installation should be OK. :)

Thank you for fast reply.
huh, I asked a lot of questions in this post and eliminated them after reading the whole forum. From now on i understand that i have to make XP cap workabouts BEFORE installing refinements. Correct me and provide with roll back instructions if i'm wrong :)
Thanks

I added the temporary workaround for the DSotSC - WMv6 "Forest of Forgotten Souls" issue to the 1st post in the thread, until a permanent fix is made.

Is a version of SimDing's DefJam included somewhere in BP-BGT?

I'm sure I read something about this, but now can't find it - and it seems that without it, I'll max out on XP before I've even done a fraction of either game?

Cheers,

Many thanks - where should it come in the install order - along with all the other tweaks etc towards the end?

yep: as close to the end of yr install s you can make it. before or after tweaks doesn't really matter: but certainly after any mod that alters quests or creatures, including BP.

How hard would it be to make a small mod that turns spell and lockpicking experience ten (or more even) times lower for the BG section, and automatically sets it back at the beginning of BG2?

Can't you install DEFJAM and then, after reaching BG2 part, uninstall it? ^_^

i don't like uninstalling things in the middle of a game, it's not good for it... i'd rather figure out how to make this mod. ^^
