And just for you, Yovaneth, I've done a bit of sharpening on some of the other .bmps and included these updates in a fresh .zip file. Enjoy!

:coolthumb: Thank you!

...But I'll trust Azazello's assertion that some humans have pointy ears if s/he tells us how s/he knows. ;)

The :ahem: (perhaps it should be :cough-cough:) should be an obvious-enough hint... :whistling:

Re: Ajantis. Yes, I was surprised no one brought up his portrait sooner. BM, I don't know what you were picking up on that bothered you about Ajantis, but for me it's his helm. Reconstructing it from the shadows wasn't easy and could even be argued as being unsuccessful. When I read what you wrote, I had a V-8 moment (as in slapping my forehead--a reference that dates me!). I don't know why I haven't tried replacing his helm altogether like I did Faldorn & Shar Teel's entire heads. That will probably be my next approach.

Yes, I was referring partially to the helm, but also to his left hand, it just looks really odd and pixilated.

I think the problem with the helm isn't really the lightning/shadowing you did on it, but rather its form. It looks much too tight on him, particularly around the neck. In the original portrait the background was so dark that it blended in with it, disguising the form. I think you should try separating the helm slightly from the neck on the left, and over on the right I'd thin or remove the line of the helm below his nose. Also, the left "horn" looks much thicker than it should be.

If you don't mind, I'd like to play around with the portrait a little.
Smile, it makes people wonder what you're up to...

Azazello: As in naturally pointed or altered?

Black Mage: Well, you're certainly welcome to play around with it. I'm taking a slightly different tact, though & for the last few days have been working on giving him a new Helm. But yeah, give it a go.

What would be quite cool would be taking Viconia's BG1 portrait and making her actually look like a drow. This could be giving her the grey, almost ebony skin and another just so she matches her BG2 portrait.

Interesting you should say that. Several months ago--no, actually it was last year! (Time flies!) Anyhoo, several months ago I started that exact project. But it was before I started this BG1 to BG2 project and it didn't even ocur to me to add it in.

Tell you what, let me post the pics I'm working on right now. You guys can maybe Beta me along a little (as long as you're kind, lol).

I love the revision of Coran and Yeslick (though it might be shading.. it seems to me some rimples due to colour differences)

Another thing when revisting your site: Something I noticed about Brandwen. She seems to look astray. The white point (I reckon to resemble light reflection) is different in the two eyes giving me the idea she looks in two ways...

IMO Ajantis' helm is not too tight (okay it is tight, but not too), however, the cheekguard on the right seems to be sloped further back then the one on the left, making the helm seem asymmetic.

Once again it is constructive comment, they remain lovely and I consider quite a few better then the originals

Thanks, Deathsangel. Thanks Kania. Just one question: "Lovely" Montaron? I don't think I've ever heard him called that before, but different strokes & all that ... :)

Anyhoo, just thought I'd show off the newest edits.

Ajantis has a new helm.

Imoen has her BG1 cheekbones and hair, her BG2 eyes and nose, new threads, and Angelina Jolie's mouth.

Viconia has her BG1 armor and her BG2 hood. Also, she's now wearing Shar's colors, which I thought was appropriate considering she's a cleric for the goddess.

I like the new Viconia picture very much. Have you though of giving Ajantis long blond hair instead? As always great job!

Hmmm.. I am still not really content with Ajantis' helmet.. It looks as if the helmet is seen from the front, but his face/head is a little from the side, if you know what I mean, and it looks a bit too narrow around the head (still.. sorry). And I don't like the helmet but that's a different story. :)

The Viconia is just gorgeous... I can imagine (Ano)men falling for her attractiveness.

All in all a great job!!

But Ajantis... (and that's the portrait I'd take the most interest in).

As in natural. I was growing up, older people would call them 'pinched' ears. Not really Vulcan-pointy; more Eldoth-pointy. We are a rare breed...

Imoen has her BG1 cheekbones and hair, her BG2 eyes and nose, new threads, and Angelina Jolie's mouth.

Gotta say, is the best Imoen art I've seen! "Playful yet mature": the playful smile, a sense of dashing rogue, and she's a beauty! Can now see why Viconia was a bit jealous, and Kesley always tries to mack on her.

Thank you for the wonderful art. This has become my default Imoen potrait.

This is awesome, wonderful work. I would love to add these to my gameplay -- right now, though, the site is down. Could someone indicate a mirror?

Thankies! I haven't thought of long hair, but I have thought of blond hair (see below). I *am* actually working on your commissioned work, btw. Give me another cpl of days or so.

Thanks! I've very happy with the way Viconia came out as well, if I can be so bold as to say so myself. And actually, the Ajantis pic I used for myself for the longest time was a portrait of a young blond that I'd done for someone's mod a cpl of years ago (dang, have I been here that long?). What was the name of that mod? .... Anyhow, I always thought he looked Ajantis-y. Maybe I'll dig him up & give him an airing.

 Thank you! I'm pleased to help as I can.

Thank you cmorgan. :)

And I'm sorry to those who have been trying to get onto my site for the last few days. There have been unavoidable technical difficulties (ie. rent before domain renewal), but I'll see if I can't put it up on a mirror for you.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Oh, good Lord, Plasmocat -- didn't know it was your personal site. I can wait, and darn well contribute $$ (well, ok, $) if you have Paypal or something like that. If you are keeping the distribution under your wings, I think that is great. Just didn't know if you had already mirrored somewhere.

I will wait patiently and quietly over in a corner somewhere, and pounce the second I see the site go back up!

Edit: aaAHAAaaaaaa! *pounce* ... Got it!

Thank you very much!

Thank you Plasmocat. I am looking forward to seeing the next picture. If you email me your paypal address, I would love to make a donation for your homepage to get it up and running. You have been classic adventures secret assistant for a long time. I am always so grateful for your help. I am also looking forward to seeing a blond Ajantis.

Thank you both for your gracious offers. I'm very honored that you'd both chip in so freely, but it was more a matter of some dumb luck timing than it is that I'm really struggling. I really appreciate it, though. My hosting is free; I just pay for the domain and that's now good to go for another year. Go it's all good.

:)

Here's the pic I was describing. It was commissioned for a mod with a character named "Callum," but I've been using him as my Ajantis ever since I finished him. He's a pretty early work, and I can look at him now and see ways he could really be improved. But that'll probably wait because I came across a cpl of blonds in my stable of male models (ok, my pic gallery) who might also fill the bill.

More as the story progresses!

Hear, hear!

(As in agreeing with all previous thankery and praising, and thus piggy-backing on those since I don't know how I can surpass them.)

Since a few people were mentioning favourites, I might as well chip in and say Jaheira, since that was the pic I used for my very first BG2 CHARNAME. (Back in the days when I had fun with the demo, long before I got the real game and positively ages before I finally got BG1.)

Aw, heck: exceedingly well done, Plasmocat! Most people now actually look agreeable to such an extent that I might even have them join my CHARNAME (a confirmed soloist, sadly).
