Hey people.

I want to translate some weidu mods and custom npc's to my native language (polish), for my personal use. I have some questions related to my endeavour.

First of all, are the .tra files the only files i need to edit in order for the translation to work (that's in relation to, say, item mods like Sorcerer's Place Item Pack), or do i need to edit other files as well?

Second, where do i begin with the translation of npc's? Is it the same as in normal mods, or do i need some extra tools or somesuch?

Oh, and please excuse my noobishness and don't get angry if i just asked questions you guys had to answer a million times. My connection is crap atm due to b-band limit and i can't afford/don't have the patience to scrounge thru hundreds of topics and forums.

Depends on what you're planning to do. You'd need to change the .tra files and add an option to the .tp2 file under languages to install them in the language you translated them to, and then install them. If you've already installed them and want to translate them retroactively without reinstalling, you're pretty screwed, since you'd have to translate the entire non-translated portion of the dialog.tlk file. Which is about 10 mb of TXT [EDIT] without proper line breaks.

But no, you don't need anything special for an NPC mod, since all the text in the game is contained in a single huge file (DIALOG.tlk), to which WeiDU automatically adds mod text, allowing multiple mods to be installed at once. If you've got a polish-language version of the main game and everything else you can just translate the files with the mod text.

"Tyranny is a quiet thing at first, a prim and proper lady pursing her lips and shaking her head disapprovingly, asking, well what were you doing (wearing that dress, walking home at that hour, expressing those inappropriate thoughts) anyway? It's subtle and insidious, disguised as reasonable precautions which become more and more oppressive over time, until our lives are defined by the things we must avoid. She's easy enough to agree with, after all, she's only trying to help -- and yet she's one of the most dangerous influences we face, because if she prevails, it puts the raping, robbing, axe-wielding madmen of the world in complete control. Eventually they'll barely need to wield a thing, all they'll have to do is leer menacingly and we fall all over ourselves trying to placate them." -godlizard

I am not sure if any of my mods hold any interest to you, but everyone has my permission to translate them into any language.

Well, when i say "for my personal use", i actually mean that as in "until i'm satisfied with the results and get the hang of it" :)

If i finish a translation and will feel it's good enough to release in the 'net, i'll be sure to contact the mod author and ask him to add my translation. And thanks Nastian, if i run into any difficulties i'll be sure to contact you ^_^
