I would like to propose a scheme of compensation for every time I spend time typing a post and your forum eats it with a database error.

I agree. Each time this happens, I will smack myself on the hand, exclaiming "Bad dog!"
{I would smack the computer but using a laptop with wireless keyboard/mouse. Smack the monitor, maybe?}

Strange, I've never lost a single post or PM. Going back in the webbrowser and Ctrl+C work wonders.

The good ones do this too, if you don't use the cache / history rememberer to avoid RAM occupation issues.

OK I'm a complete idiot. I must have been viewing Page 1 of this thread, and when replied, the reply appeared here, in Page 2. The post I replied is the last one on page 1, so it exists, sorry for the inconvenience.

Granted, I've been off for a month or so and may somehow have gotten banned in the meantime, but I somewhat doubt that. So, any helpful hints from the Suave Swede?

Actually, we have no one banned or even suspended at this point, so it has to be a password mixup somewhere. I have reset your password and emailed the new one to you. Please let me know if you have any other problems.

No, just found your kind missive and now I'm back in evil old form. Musta been the password contained some "funky" character/s, as some kind network figure once told me regarding a similar pickle elsewhere. Anyhow - all's well now, apart from my spelling skills. I get the "SQL error: User spellhol_forum has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections" quite often the last weeks/days.

I've been wanting to report the same thing for weeks. Sorry for being so lazy...

Ladies & Gents, is it just me or does this error seem to be occuring more frequently?

You are right : I get a database error or a blank page very often these last weeks. My RSS feed reports "entries unreadable" half the time.

That damn SQL error is really getting on my nerves, almost everytime I try to access the forums I get it and have to wait about 10mins before it goes away.

The server is currently living a life of its own. Expect a new one as soon as we're able to find time to move the ~15 GB of files and several hundred megabytes of databases we currently have on this one.

I don't really see how it's a big surprise, considering that we've been talking about getting a dedicated server for ages, because of all these problems.

And as for "another move", we're simply going to move everything from one server to another. This is not to be confused with the move/renaming we did when we changed FW to SHS, as that was much larger. We're not changing anything, just shifting everything to a server which can deal with the traffic.
