I installed using pretty much your way, though I had some different components selected in a few mods. Had just about 0 problems so far (Aside from the usual hobgoblins and ghouls/ghasts trying to talk to me >.>). But now I'm playing through the BoneHill part of it, and BG just crashes every time I try to enter Tri-Top. I've had the same thing happen a few other times when I kill various NPCs (Guy in the Cloudpeak Mountains, with Gloves of Archery, and the band of adventurers who attack you if you exit Nashkel Mines from the bottom). Any idea whats causing this?

It's a known issue with missing CRE files. Look for solution here: http://www.shsforums...showtopic=19862

Just wanted to bring to your attention that there is a fix_002.tp2 file for BPv176 posted on the "fixed tp2" thread. Nothing critical, unless the right-clicks really bothered you in Candlekeep (they are NOT eliminated game-wide).

I eventually gave up on the Bonehill part (went through it yesterday) and just kept playing the main game. Ran into another problem in Cloakwood, but managed to fix it. Same thing was happening, except a bit slower, I could zone into the 4th Cloakwood area (Wyverns), and pause the game, but as soon as I unpaused it, crash. I looked at the area scripts in Near Infinity, compared them to the original BG files. commented out the IF/THEN part involving Ntotsc and creating some Black Talon elite, problem solved. I'd put the code in here, but after commenting it out and compiling/saving it dissapeared.

On a side note, if you install the Merchant's League Shop option, Malakar +2 becomes abilable to buy. This leads to a level 13/14 Kensai/Mage coming to own your BG1 party for it. ^^;

I just did an install very similar to yours X-Calibar, less some npcs, NeJ, and perhaps some other minor ones. Your really did an awesome and thorough job of researching and detailing your install. It's an excellent guide to a big install, and I really depend on it for guidance. A light in the dark forest... Thanks!

However, my game kept crashing whenever I went to the area just east of Beregost. I found that I had to uninstall DSotSC and then no more crash to desktop problems...for now. I read in the forum there that it is not compatible with BGT-BP. Is this still true?

Also, I have problems with the Druidic Sorcerer kit... 1.) The kit starts off, out of Candlekeep, with enough experience to level all the way to 50. 2.) I can put a pip into Scimitars on the character creation screen but then lose the ability to do so, after the game starts. 3.) The kit's THACO table does not advance (At level 50 with proficiency in quarterstaff, THACO is still 20...) It may be that I have installed some components from some of the other mods that have overwritten or conflicted with this kit. If no one has any advice, then I'll just keep nibbling away at trying to figure out what went wrong with it and report later. Thanks! :)

Are you using the modified Druidic Sorcerer files I posted in Hlid's forums? (for BP-BGT-NeJ compatability)

I am. At least I hoped that I followed the instructions correctly. First I extracted the original to my install foler then I extracted your modified files to the same folder so they would overwrite the pertinent files and then ran the executable. Is this the correct way? Perhaps some were missed? One last question, can I uninstall the kit and reinstall it it on top of everything else as the last mod without causing major damage to my install of the various mods? From the kit's original install, it's buried pretty deep in the sequence... ;)

Also, I have problems with the Druidic Sorcerer kit... 1.) The kit starts off, out of Candlekeep, with enough experience to level all the way to 50.

I had the same problem. Create a char, export it, open it in NearInfinity and set the Experience to some value >0 (e.g. 100). This will solve the problem. I don't know why this problem arises, it might have something to do with this weird "you got -1 XP for the quest" text that showed up at the beginning of my game.

2.) I can put a pip into Scimitars on the character creation screen but then lose the ability to do so, after the game starts.

This is WAD IIRC, somewhere in the kit despription the advantage "can choose druid preferences at the start of the game" is listed.

Thanks! :)

Yes, this happens when you start at level 50. If you level up in-game, scripts will handle the profs of your char. You will also get strange level-up results if you level up when the game is paused.

One last question, can I uninstall the kit and reinstall it it on top of everything else as the last mod without causing major damage to my install of the various mods? From the kit's original install, it's buried pretty deep in the sequence...

As I happened to find out, X-Claiber's install guide is very resistant against silly reinstall attempts, so yes :)

I hope that helped!

Thanks Dunderdon! I get that same -1 XP for quest thing as well. What I'll try first is to just CLUA my experience down first and see if that works before I go into NI...I'm lazy... :P Then I'll just add successive amounts of exp., to level gradually, right there in Candlekeep, just to test and make sure there are no problems. I'll also avoid having the game paused when I level.

Sorry, what does WAD stand for?

Thanks for the help and info. :)

Okay just an update...I stepped up the experience and gradually levelled, however the THACO table still didn't progress. Even when I'm levelling, the level up screen says that my THACO is reduced by 1 here and there as I level, but still nothing on the main character info page. I didn't yet re-install everything, so that will be my next try...

edit: I re-installed the Kit on top of everything else, still the same problems. Oh well... looks like it just does not work with my install.

Maybe this problem can be solved by adding AP_ commands in the clabfile at the respective levels?

Thank you for this post. As someone who came back from a LONG Baldur's Gate mods break, this post is very very helpful. My only problems are, like someone posted, the ghouls saying things they shouldnt (they shouldn't even be talking! :o), some weird LONG text descriptions in the world map for some areas (Cloudpeaks and one of the areas east of Nashkel mines) and of course, the infamous Stutter Bug™.

Does anyone else get this bug with this install (mine didnt even include all the components)? I've tried everything to clear it up. The only thing I have left to do of the posted fixes is to try and fix the baldur.bcs file but I wouldnt even know where to begin.

Not sure if you are still having problems with the druidic sorcerer kit but I was having the same issues you were. To fix my problem I used NI to change the default script of my character from DSPELL.BCS to DPLAYER.BCS. Hope this helps.

The Druidic Sorcerer has always ETW0 of 20 problem could be solved by removing an EFFECT in the savegame's cre file that set the etw0 to 20 using the "bonus to etw0 (54)" effect...

I hate to bear any bad news, however in all of the WeiDU logs I've viewed in this thread that have NEJ2 installed, sadly it appears that the NEJv602 Patch is missing. I believe it should be installed between the NEJGUI (which occurs automatically with the NEJ2 Biffer) and BD-TOB.

Sorry for stupid question but I have to be sure before I start this monster installation.

"open Setup-NEJ2.tp2 with yr favourite text editor (notepad works fine) and remove the following lines:"

So will I do this AFTER I have installed the nej2 and its patch? Or BEFORE the installation? I have the same question for SoS. Should I replace the text before or after the installation?

Thanks!

I encountered another problem while installing. I have no clue what the following means:

6) DSotSCv181Full.RAR [Dark Side of the Sword Coast]

+

Biffing Note: BoneHill and BG1NPC both modify some of the same files that DSotSC and NTotSC modify. Therefore, run the biff utilities after installing all mods so only the final version of the file gets placed into the \DATA directory. Do not use the DSotSC-Biff.BAT file, it is included inside the NTotSC-Biff.BAT file.

So don't run this utility until all BG1 mods are in...

So what should I do? Run the setup-dsotsc first? Does it offer some options to choose from? Can BAT-files be run? Biffing?

And also, when I extracted the NEj2biffer_v3.rar to my BG2 folder it overwrote one file which was tisunpack.exe. Was this right thing to do?

And here is another thing. I extracted the BGt-NeJ2_v1.rar file to my BGT folder as it told me to. Then when I tried to run it, it said that it had to be in the main folder. So I deleted the extracted files and extracted again into the right folder and ran it there. This didn't ruin my install, did it?

Thanks for your help

I found that biffing note a bit confusing as well. Both DSotSC & NTotSC have a "biffing" batch file that gets extracted from the .rar file. Here's what you do. If you're installing both, delete the DSotSC Biffing batch file, and use the NTotSC Biffing batch file because that one includes the info to biff the DSotSC files from your override directory as well as the NTotSC files. ***Note*** These biffing batch files need to be run manually. They will not automatically run as part of the installations.

If you are installing Bonehill, (and any other BG1 specific mods as well, for that matter) the recommendation is to wait to "biff" the override directory until after installing these mods because some of the files that get biffed are appended again by Bonehill, and you might end up with some conflicts between files that are biffed, and files in your override directory.

The NEJ2Biffer tisunpack.exe overwrite IS the right thing to do.

The BGT-NEJ2_v1.rar should be extracted to your BGII-SoA directory and run from there once you have BGT-100 installed.

I just finished up my mega-install last night, and so far everything seems to have loaded properly, and operates fine. I'll update my BP v176 Installation Instructions to include what I did for adding BGT and post that soon, along with my WeiDU.log.txt file.

It takes a village...
