Recently started playing this game again, and after reading a character development guide, I decided to take a slightly different approach when creating my 6 characters.

I realized all of them could be paladins!

I only have 4 paladins actually, found that for some other roles it wasnt suitable as a base class.

I reckon that having one level of paladin is useful especially for sorcerors who are also party spokespeople, because you get extra hit points, bonus to saving throws from charisma, lay on hands ability, immune to disease and proficiency with all weapons except bastard sword. worth the one level of experience in my opinion. it meant I started as a pally and cant level up anymore (without the mod at least) but I dont mind, one is enough.

I have a paladin/fighter (weapon specialization in greatswords), paladin/cleric(undead blaster), just 2 levels of pally needed there, and a paladin wizard (level 2 paladin of mystra, necromancer x).

I think paladins make useful base classes for a lot of builds. Imagine a paladin rogue who sneak attacked and smited evil at the same time! (is that even possible btw?)

paladin monk? bonus to saving throws from charisma, bonus to armor from wisdom and dex, wisdom also helps paladin spells, and will saving throws.

hmm, is it possible to have a Monk/wizard combination? I thought they would make a great combination for a DC or multi-class character. Guess i'll have to wait and see once I get ICWII going

Yes Yes Yes. Monk/Wizard is an excellent option. Wizards don't like armor. Monks don't like armor. They go hand in hand :D Add Paladin and be even Better :)

Why would I wish to add a Paladin to a Monk/Wizard? I figured that combination by itself would be enough to keep him/her safe from a alot of harm. Also would make a pretty good melee character if it came to the crunch.

You might end up in some difficulties with the attributes though, as a monk/wizard needs all but charisma.

Maybe, but i don't play characters with everything up at 18. I normally spend about 5 minutes creating a character and just make sure the character has all the slots it needs for what i am going to make them. like if it was a dwarf fighter, he would have an 18 str and 18 con, outside of that what else does he need? Maybe jack up his dex to 17, but outside of that, his intelligence doesn't mean anything nor does his wisdom or his charisma, wisdon and int i normally try and elave around 10, but chr i shut down to like 5 or 6 if not lower. so for the monk/wizard, he /she needs int, chr, dex and a bit up on str. I can make it out with a character to meet those areas, and not worry about the rest.

I'll have to post my characters up on here for my ICW group so you see my idea of creating characters

Well you don't have to. But, Cha To all Saves is Something not to be underestimated :D Also with the advent of New Books and such, feats like Ascetic Monk allows one to Use his Cha To his AC instead of his Wisdom and Stuff like that. Synergy of all kinds is your friend.

But since you're in a computer game that won't have all the splatbooks then yes it's effect isn't as great

I have high Charisma and INT, so I'm a wizard/bard. My two favorite classes rolled into one character ^_^
Err...Are paladins even allowed to say 'ass'?

It's the Monk 1/Druid X that rocks. You get the WIS bonus to AC when shapeshifted.

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.
