ok, now that we've got public weidu releases of all the BP-BGT-NEJ-etc-etc components, i'd reckon it was time to finally remove the old, non-Weidu versions of these mods from the various servers - or at least hide them, so that users can't accidentally download them.

there's no need for them anymore, and their continuing availability just adds to user confusion (and generates error reports): thus, i move the motion that we retire all the non-weidu versions of these mods. all in favour of the motion?

I'd go for the move ... and so even my installation guide about old BP+BGT+NEJ becomes obsolete.
(but i still have a full copy installed of the old monster ;)

I am greatly in favor. It saves both Players and Modders Time. Less Confusion=Greater Happiness. Plus the Weidu versions are more stable, less bugged, and more easily compatible. It's an easy question right?

I agree that the old versions should be retired. But could you allow restricted to some of us? I want to play the old monster one more time - sentimental reasons; hey, we'll all be put out to pasture one day - with NEJ-original, and although I think I have all the necessary files, I might be missing some.

If that's not possible, how's about giving a week or two deadline, to "get 'em while they last" chance to get the files before they go bye-bye.

I also agree, having only 1 set of mods to troubleshoot is easier than 2. It also prevents people from downloading the older ones and then finding out that the newer ones are better and having to download everything all over again.

As a newbie into BG I agree.
Please make clear download links to new mods, and a new clear instruction guide.
A page with updates instead of 8 forums would help - showing in clear detail changes to versions and the like so its clear what works together.

Right now ive installed BG1, TOTSC basic patches, BG2, TOB basic patches and im not doing anything sle till its clear what we use.

Its great the work put in by the community but its very difficult to follow and understand at times.

Cheers

I personally want to see the old versions extinct as well, but for those 'sentimental' people who like gigabytes worth of clutter to pollute the binary digits of their backup media, perhaps it is better to chuck all of them into an 'OLD STUFF - do not download me coz I'm contagious' directory. (cynical joke, of course :) )
