Did you open the TP2 or the TRA-file before you started your install? Syntax errors during an install should not happen - since if they happen to someone, they should happen to everyone - which they don't.

So, are you sure the entire file has been downloaded correctly? Mine (working) is 8.901 big and should contain a TP2, an exe and a BGT folder.

If yes, which problem did you use to extract the files from the rar-file - I thought WINACE causes trouble when decompressing rar-files - and thus might have 'damaged' your files.

BGT/bg1.tra is created by WeiDU from your BG1 installation. What version and language of BG1 are you using?

Can I also get you to try something tricky?
Basically, have an explorer window of <BG2 installation directory>\BGT up in the background.
Run the install and make the error again, and as the installation tries to delete a number of files that don't exist, quickly duplicate bg1.tra from that explorer window (highlight bg1.tra, press Ctrl+C, then Ctrl+V).
Then, open up "Copy of bg1.tra" in a word processor and post the first 15 or so lines (say, up to where you have a line that starts with @15).
