[The Drow]

Hello there--

my character is using the Bladsinger kit and I would love to use the armour for the Bladesinger you can buy at the Copper Coronet. But alas, it's red and thus, I can't use it, though the armour says its only usuable by Bladesingers.

Any Ideas?

Are you talking about the Bladesinger Chain +4? If you are that piece of armor is only unusable by: Monk, Druid, Mage, Shapeshifter, Stalker, Beastmaster, Archer and Kensai (no racial restrictions). The Bladesinger uses 0x4000000 which is the Barbarian so I can see no reason that he cannot use it. The item is CHAN16.itm. Dumb question but is your strength above 5?

I just started a new game and made a bladesinger and clua'd the armor to him and he can use and equip it.

Nope. If you have TDD installed, you can ask Bernard at the Copper Coronet to show you the wares in those crates over in the corner, aka Special Wares. There you find Mirathar, an amour that lets your Bladesinger cast magic before you get your hands on any Elven Chain. It's especially for the Baldesinger kit. The only problem is, my Bladesinger can't wear it, which makes no sense to me *scratches head*

i have TDD installed let me find out what that armor is and if my bladesinger can wear it.

Ahhh.. I see now its bsingchn.itm and its only usable by an elf and not usable by a barbarian which is what the bladesinger is based off (0x4000000).

i will edit mine in NI and see if I can get it to work then I will post it here for you to put in your override.

Here is a corrected bsingchn.itm, just rename it to bsingchn.itm and dump it in your override.

Thank you!  You're a darling. If you were anywhere near Munich, I would take you out for a beer or two    Only one small thing. The description and name of the armour went missing. No biggie since it still does what it's supposed to do. Just thought I let you know.

Try this one. works for me, could have something to do with strrefs being different in your game. If you have NI you can edit the item and add:

Fine strands of mithril and enchanted adamantine bind this armor together. The scales themselves are light as leaves, silvery and almost translucent, and the shoulders are inset with plates of engraved bronze. Only elves could have made something so gorgeous, and elven artifacts are rarely left un-enchanted. Made specifically for Bladesingers, Mirathar was the name of an elite sentinel brigade in the fabulous Myth Drannor. Whether this suit truly hails from so ancient a past or only honors the fallen defenders' memory, the armor improves its wearer's magical aptitude. Of course, this may owe as much to the inspiration one feels wearing something as regal, as to the enchantments themselves.

STATISTICS:

Armor Class: 4
AC bonus vs. Slashing attacks: +4
AC bonus vs. Crushing attacks: -2
Special:
Grants 25% Magic Resistance
Speeds up casting time
Weight: 35

Usable by:
Bladesinger


and then the name: Mirathar

Definitely have to learn how to use NI, then. Ah, well. As long as the armour works, I'm happy.

EDIT: What would you know. I managed to update the strrefs without mucking up my dialog.tlk and alas, it's working. I'm amazed.
