If you are like me and love playing CHARNAME as a fighter class then you are also probably tired of De'Arnise keep as much as Chateau Irenicus. My idea is to make something like Dungeon Be Gone for the Keep.

1. Would start at the waypoint where you meet Nalia when you dont have her in the party.

2. Captain whatshisname would be the one you talk to (like Jassy in DBG) or Hendak after completing the slaver quest but I havent decided yet. Dont want to make it too easy.

3. Would receive all experience for the keep (monsters, tasks, etc).

4. All items (magical only) and gold would be given to you (flail of ages included).

5. If fighter class you would be offered the keep as your stronghold.

Now.... what do ya'all think? I am open to suggestions and criticism :whistling:

You don't have to play the De'Arnise Keep and if you are a fighter you don't have to have a keep. If you want to have a keep you should earn it. Maybe Someone could make a differnt Keep or make a few random encounters (not just random monsters) so it will be differnt each time?

The De'Arnise Keep is completely avoidable, while Chateau Irenicus is not. Because it's optional, I usually do it when I feel like it, as I do with the other "major" quests like the Planar Sphere, Shade Lord, Copper Coronet/Slaver Ship, Firkraag's lair, Watcher's Keep, Haer'Dalis' Rescue, etc.

What I *would* like to see is a Sendai's Enclave Be Gone, and an Abazigal's Lair Be Gone. You always have to do these dungeons and quite frankly, they annoy the hell out of me.

I think that if we start adding mods to skip certain parts of the game here and there, we'll all just end up playing Game-Be-Gone.

What we need instead is "De'Arnise Keep Expansion", where the keep we're all bored to death with is expanded and improved with new fights, treasures, quests, riddles and so on. It would solve the problem and the solution wouldn't be another "let's skip this".

As for Sendai's Enclave and Abazigal's Lair, well, they're... ToB. Need I say more?

Spice them up like you suggested doing with the De'Arnise Keep.

I'm going to be expanding the quest to recover the keep as part of LoI (including a handful of new areas and new monsters), though I've no plans to touch the stronghold quests ATM.

Unfortunately, I don't think that would be enough. You'd have to spice up the entire ToB.

I think that ToB-Be-Gone and especialy Final-Fight-Be-Gone would be the only thing that would make me play ToB second time.

I think that De'Arnise keep needs a lot of randomly generated events, quests and encounters.

My idea behind this was to make the keep optional. If you still wanted to do the keep you could, but for players that have done the boring as hell keep a million time it would provide a way to do it quickly so they can get onto other things like CtB, TDD, SOS, TS and other big mods. The mod would start only after you had finished the slavers quest and talked to hendak again. He would then offer you the option of sending his own people (gladiators) out to clear the keep for you (for a price). If you accepted his offer you would be teleported to the waypoint where you would talk to nalia just like you have just finished the keep and she would in turn offer you the keep as a stronghold if you wanted it (dialogue options).

If nobody has interest in this then "if" I release it just dont download it. Maybe someone will find it interesting enough.

I also like the idea of making the keep more interesting so if anybody wants to do that then there will be 2 different ways to complete Nalia's quest.

Am I the only one who prefers unmodded de'Arnise Keep to TDD and TS, I wonder?

I think the expansion of the keep per se would work only with fighter's stronghold. Otherwise, what would PC be doing there? So, it might work either as Expanded Fighter Stronghold(more encounters, another monsters' ambush, etc) or as some keep-related quests in Nalia Romance or some such.

The only time I really enjoyed the keep was with the BP changes to it. But even then after about 10 runthru's it gets pretty lame.
